Titans

November 12, 2024

As we all know, sports can bring some high highs and some low lows. After an awesome season last year making to the Super Bowl with the Raiders, this season was a little different. The Titans didn’t make it to the Super Bowl…in fact, they didn’t win a game all season. Whomp whomp. While they might not have brought home any Ws, they played their hearts out, had some really close games, and held their heads up high. Spencer again showed leadership and poise as the quarterback and made some fantastic plays throughout the season. They played well but games just never seemed to go our way in the end.

The playoff game was a heartbreaker. The Titans were leading for a while and then it was tied up until the very end. Unfortunately, Spencer took a cleat to the face – literally his teammates cleat went through his facemask and cleated him in the face! He took another hard hit to the head and the trainer pulled him from the game. I hate that he didn’t get to finish out the 4th quarter on the field. The game ended up going into overtime and the Titans lost. But, they gave it their all. Most importantly, Spencer didn’t have a concussion and the cut on his face healed up fine.

There’s plenty to learn in losing. While I wish the season had gone differently, I’m incredibly proud of how Spencer handled himself as well as the heart and hustle he put into each game. I love to watch him play!

You win some, you lose some. Or maybe you don’t win any at all some seasons!

Go Titans!

Cheer

November 7, 2024

Samantha cheered for the 3rd grade Saints team this year. We didn’t pay much attention to the football team or games, but she sure had fun on the sidelines cheering with her friends!

They were quite the cute crew and pretty good!

They all liked to show off their tumbling during the halt time show for sure. I think Samantha did 7 backhand springs across the field at the last game! Go Samantha go! I was the cheer mom so made some run throughs and treats for the players during the season.

Go team go!

A really fun cheer season with the cutest bunch of cheerleaders!

Volleyball

October 10, 2024

Samantha played volleyball for the first time! They do a short season starting in 4th grade to introduce the girls to the sport. It was cute – and kinda painful to watch, especially at the beginning – but they did improve as the season went on. Getting your serve over the net is the most challenging part apparently!

We didn’t make it to many practices because it conflicted with tumble but I’m not sure that really mattered. At this age, it’s all about hand eye coordination and being somewhat athletic.

Samantha’s team got out in the first round of the tournament which she didn’t like. But, I hope she liked the sport enough to stick with it. I sure loved volleyball back in the day!

Soccer weekend

October 2, 2024

While the boys were sleeping in a tent, the rest of us were playing in a soccer tournament! Well, Samantha was playing and she played hard! They had their first game early Saturday morning in the drizzly, gross weather. The Spirit took care of business though and won 6-4!

They then had another game after lunch and played so hard but the game ended in a tie – 2-2.

That was enough to land them the first place seed in the tournament though! They played Sunday afternoon and had to (yet again) face the Lightning Lions. They played SO hard and the score was 0-0 all the way until the last 3 minutes of the game and then the Lions got a goal. Bummer.

The girls went home as runners up which they were none too pleased with. I however am so pleased with and proud of my little striker. She hustles and plays hard. Go Samantha go!

In addition to soccer, we also watched some football this weekend. When you’ve played two soccer games already that day and the football game is still going on at 10pm, you might end up like this despite the excitement on the screen!

Also, the headphones are because Robert and I were yelling at the tv too loudly! ha!

More tennis

September 26, 2024

Speaking of tennis…I’ve been playing just a little. 😉 Lots of cardio wins to catch up on since May!

By the end of the summer my knee was really mad at me and my arthritis got all flared up. A little PT and some time and it’s slowly getting back to baseline.

A knee brace helps it feel better too!

In addition to lots of cardio, I played in a USTA combo league this summer and it was really fun. Soft court has started back for the fall and I moved up to the 4.5 team for that and I’m playing on my regular 3.5 USTA team on Fridays. Never too much tennis (my knee might disagree but…).

Love love!
