Swim Team

August 19, 2026

Samantha wasn’t around for much of this summer but she still made it to three swim meets! I was really proud of her for still committing to the team, showing up for practices, and making it to as many meets as possible.

She was thankful to have a buddy doing swim team with her!

Tennis

August 18, 2026

It was a summer of tennis for me! With no big trips taken, that just meant plenty of time to play cardio every day. Nothing better!! But, my knee wasn’t liking that at first and was pretty inflamed and even had some shoulder pain for a few weeks. I did lots of PT with dry needling and cupping…

and then finally went back to Andrews. I was afraid they were going to tell me my meniscus was torn again but, nope! Just arthritis! They pulled a ton of fluid out of my knee and gave me a steroid injection and I was good as new. Thank goodness! Lots of cardio crowns this summer…

Soccer

August 17, 2026

New school year, new soccer team! Samantha is now on Pre-ECNL Team 3 and fall soccer is off with a bang! We drove to Atlanta very late Friday night and didn’t get there until about 11pm but we were up and at the fields for the 8am game!

IMG_4470

These girls played awesome and won! Hooray!

IMG_4481

We then grabbed breakfast and then did a little shopping – Samantha’s favorite part of soccer tournaments! ha!

IMG_4484

Our second game was at 12:30 and it was approximately 153 degrees outside! SOOOOO hot. The girls played so hard but we ended up losing 1-2 with a last second goal scored by the other team. Bummer. We then hit up the hotel pool and went out for mexican so all was not lost!

We were back at the field bright and early for an 8am rematch against the same team and unfortunately couldn’t pull out the win.

But that did mean we got to head on back to Birmingham which we were very glad for. Starbucks stop required!

Excited to watch this soccer star play!

baseball

July 28, 2026

Last week the Spartan Baseball Club played a game “for fun” out at Rickwood Field. Was it fun to get to play at such a historic stadium? Yes. Would it have been more fun if it had not been in the middle of July when it was approximately 152 degrees outside? Yes. Poor Spencer was the only catcher on his team and he was such a trooper out there catching 7 innings. He then got hit by a ball on his first time up to bat. Not his favorite day. They did finally let him pitch which is all he wanted to do – but that wasn’t until the last inning after he had caught for 7. He killed it though and pitched great. Proud of him as always!

summer baseball

June 24, 2026

Spencer decided to play SBC summer baseball. While he really wanted to pitch and play centerfield, he ended up having to catch all summer because they didn’t have a catcher. Definitely not what he wanted to do in the 90 degree heat but he was a good sport about it and played fantastic at catcher. He also got to play some short stop and third base. He’s definitely a player you can put anywhere and know he’ll make the play! Unfortunately I think he only got to pitch 2 or 3 games but we did get a few pics of it…

The team lost more than they won and we spent a lot of time on the road driving to Bowers Park in Tuscaloosa. But, he got to hang with Chapel, Reed, and Mahlon and that made it all pretty fun!

I’m really proud of Spencer for his hard work and good attitude. He’s a great teammate.
