Baseball tournament

April 30, 2026

The end of the season baseball tournament was in Atlanta…or Marietta…not nearly as fun as the beach trips Maxwell got to go on but I guess easier to get to. Robert went with Spencer and they had a fun Friday night at the Braves game!

They got killed in all three games but, that’s ok. Games are tough when you’re playing against kids twice your size!

Spencer had some good at bats, got to pitch and did awesome, and played CF.

I’m choosing to think this tournament – and frankly the whole season – was more about friendship than baseball. Spencer and his buddies had fun running around the hotel until late at night and making memories. I’ll take it!

Baseball

April 29, 2026

Spencer played baseball with Spartan Baseball Club this spring. Though not without its challenges, I’d say overall it was a good experience. He was a starter on the B team and got to play center field the majority of the season. He also got to pitch some (not enough!) and killed it on the mound each time. As Robert said, “he really does have a pitcher’s mentality” – he doesn’t get frazzled and doesn’t show much emotion. Steely Spencer! I didn’t get many great photos throughout the season but here are a few…

Soccer

April 22, 2026

Last weekend we drove up to Huntsville for a soccer tournament. The girls played hard but came up a goal short in the first game. We then headed to the mall to cool off! Nothing like lunch in the food court and a trip to Claire’s to pump you up!

The second game was exciting and ended with a last minute goal by Samantha to win the game! Woohoo!

We were supposed to have to drive back on Sunday to play another game but the other team forfeited. Score! Proud of these girls!

Tennis

Spring is here which means spring tennis! My favorite time of the year! Playing 5.0 soft court this season and 3.5 USTA. We made it through winter but I am sure am happy it’s spring….

soccer

February 24, 2026

Spring soccer kicked off this weekend for Samantha with a tournament in “Atlanta”…which means Alpharetta. For some reason they placed our team in the gold division which is extremely competitive. Our coaches appealed it but were denied. Given that, I was very proud of how the girls played against some really tough competition! Also, after the terrible experience in the “stay to play” hotel this past fall, our team booked at a hotel of our choosing and it was fantastic and surrounded by the best shopping and restaurants! Score!

Dinner Friday night…

followed by a little Coverstar making…

The girls were ready to play at their 8am game Saturday morning!

It was chilly and overcast and, by the second half of the game, it was pouring rain. Not pleasant.

IMG_9122

Despite the weather, they held their own and only lost 3-2! Proud of them! After everyone got dried off and warmed up, we got lunch at Superica and shopped! The best part of travel tourneys for these girls!!

We then had a 3:30pm game where the girls looked sharp in their new Lulu red headbands!

IMG_9149

Unfortunately the headbands didn’t bring the luck we needed and we lost 2-0. That night we had a team pizza dinner…

We were then back up early Sunday for another 8am game…in significantly colder temps! A cold front moved in and it was 38 with a windchill of 30 at kickoff. Brrrr!

That game was rough. We lost 6-1. Ouch. But, good learning experiences all around being the gold bracket! The good news about losing was that it meant we could hit the road and were back in Bham by 11am. I’m not going to complain about there.

Excited for some fun spring soccer!
