First day of school!

August 15, 2018

They both rocked it! What a great first day!

Not surprisingly, I had to wake Spencey up but they were all downstairs and ready in plenty of time…

Spencer just wanted to walk over with Maxwell so I didn’t go to the flagpole with them…and I so wish I had. πŸ™

Thankfully, big brother took care of him and got him into the classroom. Phew. When I picked Spencer up at 2:00 he was all smiles!! Hooray!!

I think he had a GREAT day and even got a smiley in his notebook!

Maxwell was home an hour later and, from what I got out of him, had a fantastic day too. I think he was just so happy to be back with all of his friends all day. He and Spencer even both bought lunch – pizza!

Now we get to get up and do it all again tomorrow! Ready for a fun year!

summer reading challenge

August 2, 2018

The boys already finished up their summer reading challenges! Like last year, I wanted to give them a challenge to keep them reading during the summer. Maxwell read for 1,000 minutes and Spencer read 3 series of Bob books. Of course, every good challenge has a good reward! The picked new jerseys and were pretty proud to show off their earnings!

I was hoping Maxwell would get into great chapter books like the Magic Treehouse series but he preferred his DogMan and Captain Underpants books. Ah well! It’s better than nothing! Super proud of my summer readers!!

Last Day

May 31, 2018

Maxwell finally had his last day of school last Thursday!

last day

Didn’t change that much from the first day yet also changed a ton…and lost 3 teeth!

first grade

He had a great year. He got straight +s on his report card and nothing but absolutely GLOWING reports from his teacher. I’m not sure anything in first grade was super challenging to him so hoping we can up the game a bit in second grade. His BFFs are Andrew and Jack and he’d much rather be playing sports all day than sitting in class! ha!

Middle row: Parker, Andrew, Lela, Katherine, Caldwell, Price, Mrs. Liddle
Front row: Riley, Molly, Graham, Will, Louise

Off he goes to his last day as a first grader…

I’m so proud of Maxwell and don’t know what I did to get a kid as good as him. Here’s to a fantastic summer for a fantastic kid!

Field Day

May 30, 2018

Field day is, for sure, one of the best parts of school! Like last year, Maxwell got decked out in his class color. We even had all the boys in his class over to our house in the morning before school so they could all get their hair sprayed and face painted together!

Lancer Leader

May 29, 2018

In the last two weeks of school Maxwell came home one day saying he had won a leadership award. I was obviously very proud but assumed it was something in just his class. The I got two texts from other moms congratulating Maxwell on his big recognition! huh?! So, I emailed this teacher and found out that he had won the Lancer Leader award! Any teacher or student can nominate someone and then there is a group of 6th graders that review all of the applications and select the winners. As Mrs. Liddle said, “I nominated him but most of the school knows how special he is!” Have you ever heard anything better?! I clearly think he’s the most special of all but I love hearing that others think so too! Β πŸ™‚

During the ceremony he was asked to announce the service project for first grade and Mrs. Liddle got this pic…

and then he won the Lancer Leader award! He was the only first grader that got it. There isn’t necessarily one per grade – in fact, the librarian told me that not every grade had a Lancer Leader this year. Such an awesome accomplishment for Maxwell!!

I’m so so proud of my Lancer Leader!
