It’s GJ’s Birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GJ!!

GJ – Maxwell simply does not know yet how incredibly lucky he is to have you as his grandmother.  You are the ultimate.  You hold our family together and carry all that comes with that with a big smile on your face.  You’re always happy to hear my voice on the other end of the phone and will talk to me about nothing for as long as I want.  You’re the strongest person I know – physically and mentally – and I honestly try every day to be a bit more like you.  You’re clever and always thinking of some new “plan” to make our lives better – whether it be a plan for furnishing a room or taking a trip, you make things happen.  You always say that “things just have a way of working themselves out” but most of the time that happens because you made them work!  There’s a reason everyone likes you GJ, you’re just a nice person, plain and simple.  🙂

You are the BESTEST mom in the world, you’re my best pal and I know you’re going to be Maxwell’s best pal too.  He can’t wait to see you again on Tuesday!

It’s Friday!  Hooray!  Robert had to travel this week for work so Maxwell and I got to spend some quality time alone.  Even though Dad was only gone for 2 days, we were really ready for him to get home!  It’s exhausting taking care of this little guy all by myself…but we made it!  Here are some cute pics from the other day…

Fingernails

One thing that surprised me when Maxwell was born was how long his fingernails were.  Luckily my sister-in-law had given me some baby emery boards before he was born and told me to take them to the hospital with me (thanks Jen!).  I was so glad I did.  The first night in the hospital, his sharp little fingernails managed to completely scratch up his face.  We filed them down the second day and it made a huge difference.

We’ve even had to file them a couple more times since he’s been home.  Guess my boy likes a good manicure!  Now he’s got nicely filed fingernails…

and toenails too!

Just to be sure he doesn’t scratch his face again, we’ve kept him in the onesies that have the finger covers.  Genius idea!  The ends of the sleeves fold over so his little fingers can’t get out and do damage to his sweet face.

Doc update

Maxwell had his 2 week appointment with the pediatrician yesterday and he got an A+!  His weight is up to 7 lbs 15 ounces.  He was only 7 lbs at his appointment last Friday so that’s almost a whole pound in one week!  Growing boy!  He’s in the 50th percentile for weight and the 75th percentile for height.  The doctor says if he stays on that height track he’ll be around 6 ft. tall!  We’ll see!  He behaved so well for the doctor and only wailed for a few minutes when he had to get his heel pricked.

So pitiful with the giant band-aid on his heel…

He was happy and content again in no time though…
