Birthday party fun

We’ve been to some fun birthday parties lately. Spencer got to go to Hansen’s petting zoo party where he looked at some sheep and a “baby cow” and did actually pet a bunny and a turtle!

Next I took both boys to Sally’s DJ Dance party! They loved cutting a rug on the light-up dance floor…

Finally, the whole family went to Hayes’ farm party last weekend! Baby MacDonald had a farm!

The boys spent most of their time running around the hay maze, but Farmer Samantha liked getting to see chickens and goats!

We all enjoyed the dust ride…I mean hay ride!

We then all had cupcakes in the barn!

Monkeys

On Monday I had 4 little monkeys climbing in a tree!

Maxwell’s friend, Butler, came over to play and they discovered that the magnolia tree in our front yard is really fun to climb! They would have gone all the way to the top of that tree if I had let them!

and Spencer tried so, so hard to keep up. It’s hard to be the little brother sometimes.

But, they all had fun…

and thankfully they all managed to safely climb down and didn’t fall out of the tree! Phew.

Something tells me this poor magnolia might be stripped by the time Maxwell is 12!

Time for your checkup!

Happy Monday! Last week I mentioned to Maxwell that I was taking Spencer up for his 4 year checkup and Maxwell said “when am I going for my 6 year checkup?” Ummm…guess I just forgot all about that! Luckily Dr. Walley was able to do a two-fer and they go to go at the same time!

Overall, both boys look fantastic. They are healthy, growing boys!

Maxwell is 45 and 1/4 inches tall (50-74th%) and 40.4 lbs (50th%). He’s pretty much always been in that 50-75th%. Maxwell has grown 2.5 inches since last year and gained 4.4 lbs. Based on his %, Dr. Walley predicts Maxwell will be at least 5’10 and likely taller.

Spencer is 41 and 1/4 inches tall (75-90th%) and 39.6 lbs (75-95th%). He’s consistently been in that % too! Spencer has grown 3 and 1/4 inches since last year and gained 3.6lbs. He’s getting tall and leaning up! Dr. Walley said if he continues in this % he’ll probably end up being around 6ft or taller!

Just for comparison, Maxwell at 4 was 40 and 1/4 inches tall (75th – 95th%) and 33.2 lbs (50th – 75th%)

If you’re paying attention to all those stats it means that Maxwell is 4 inches taller but only 1/2 lb heavier! ha!

They both had to get flu shots but that was it! Always thankful for good doctor reports!

Halloween – the main event!

After all the fun Halloween lead in, Halloween itself finally arrived…on a Monday! Not the best but that didn’t stop us from having a great time. It was unseasonably warm but at least it wasn’t raining like last year. Spencer and Samantha wore their Ghostbuster shirts to school to keep away all spooky things…

After school and naps, we headed over to the Crestline parade just in time to see some fun floats and collect some candy.

We then went to our neighborhood party where everyone enjoyed the train, bouncies and food.

We finally headed out to go trick-or-treating at about 6:45 or so…it was getting very dark and we did a big loop before our crew was worn out.

and then all fell into bed exhausted! It was a great Halloween for my Kylo Ren, Darth Vander, and Little Miss Sunshine!!

Halloween round 3

On Sunday we went to our church’s Fall Festival. Despite being unseasonably warm and not fall-like at all, we still had a great time. They made some fun improvements to it this year that made it a lot more enjoyable than last year! (fall festival 2014 here)

I wasn’t so sure how it was going to go since I had to wake Samantha up from her nap and then both boys fell asleep on the way out there!

Unfortunately, no s’mores this year due to the drought and burn ban. Didn’t bother my kids though – they were happy with cookies! Now if we could just get some fall weather for our fall festival!
