Dear Santa,

I’ve been a very good, smiley, happy little boy this year. I sleep great at night and always take good naps for Momma. I’m a good eater and love all kinds of fruit, unlike big brother. I’ve been working very hard at learning to walk too. Big brother says that since I’ve been good, you’ll bring me some toys. He thinks you should bring me a firetruck, but I think he just says that because he wants to steal it from me. I don’t really care what you bring me as long as it will be mine and Momma can tell big brother not to take it. I’ll leave you some cookies on Christmas. Hope you like elephant cookies because that’s what big brother wants to make you and, until I can talk, he gets to pick.

Your friend,
Spencer

It’s beginning to look

December 3, 2013

a lot like Christmas!  As soon as we got back from Montgomery, we started pulling out the Christmas decorations!  First up?  The new little tree in Maxwell’s room!

maxwell's tree

He’s loved it and he’s been sleeping with it all lit up every night!

Saturday morning we headed out to get our real tree…

We picked the best 6 footer out there!

We got home and got it in the house (even though Spencer would have been fine just getting to play with the stand all day!)

and then I got it all decorated during the AL/Auburn game with Maxwell’s “help”. Yea, I was glad to have a project to distract me a bit during the game.  That was QUITE a showdown.  Wish it had turned out differently but, you can’t win em all I guess.  Roll Tide!

I think it’s the best tree yet, don’t you?

I changed a few of our decorations up a bit this year like this mantle…

and a couple of other things mainly just to keep the decorations out of the way of grabby little hands!

Saturday night we even busted out the new Christmas pi’s!

I love having the decorations up and all the Christmas cheer in the house!

oh boy!

December 2, 2013

Oh boy!  What a fun holiday weekend we had.  So much to report on so let’s get started!  First up, Thanksgiving!  We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with the Brown side of the family.  We headed down to Montgomery on Thursday morning and had fun getting to see everyone.

The cousins had fun playing together…

tgiving

and watching Dumbo.

Maxwell was dealing with a bit of static electricity in his hair all day.  It didn’t bother him…

but it sure made us laugh!

Ronnie was all decked out to cut the turkey…

and then we all enjoyed a delicious meal!

After lunch everyone hung out and watched a little football.  Spencer didn’t care much for the game but he did like the cheerleaders!  🙂

ha!  We spent the night in Montgomery.  Spencer napped and slept like a champ.  Maxwell did not sleep like a champ.  Not surprising.  On Friday morning, Robert had to go into work for a bit so I took the boys up to the Montgomery Zoo which was fantastic!

We got to see the elephants, ride the train

and Maxwell even fed a giraffe!

so fun!  After lunch we got to see Mary Beth and Holland – as well as River and Zelda – before heading back to Birmingham.  Spencer loved seeing the dogs with Robert…

Maxwell and I happily waved at them from inside!  🙂

We drove back and Maxwell thankfully did this the whole trip…

He woke up right as we pulled into town and excitedly asked if it was Christmas yet?!  🙂  Not quite…but we did make it look like Christmas at home that night!  See you all tomorrow with more weekend scoop!

Halloween!

November 1, 2013

Well, I just don’t think I could have asked for Halloween to have gone any better!  We had so much fun and my little firetruck and football player loved it!  We barely made it up from naps in time to get over to the parade at 4:00 but we made it.  This picture cracks me up because we were all a little frazzled trying to get there and Maxwell tried to squeeze into the stroller with his firetruck on and, well, it was just funny…

parade

Robert met us at the parade and it was great.  The boys loved seeing all the floats, dancers, cheerleaders and, of course, the fire truck at the end!

Please look at Spencey’s face in that first picture – I hate that it got cut off but he was so excited!  ha!

and my football player even got a football!

High five for that!

The parade ended about 4:30 and the group we were with just decided to start trick-or-treating to get it in before the rain.  Luckily lots of others had the same idea so there were plenty of people all ready to hand out some candy!  Maxwell definitely got the hang of it quickly and got really good at saying “twick ah tweat!”…

trick or treat

but he still wanted me to go up to most houses with him.  Fine by me!  🙂

halloween

Spencey just had to check it all out from the stroller…

but then when we stopped by our friend’s house, he got to get out and explore a bit!

halloween

Just as we were turning onto the street to head back home, sprinkles started to fall.  We didn’t mind though as we had already done a lot of trick-or-treating and seen plenty of good friends!

halloween

We got home just in time to eat some dinner and watch It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!  yay!  Maxwell loved getting to root through his loot…

and discover the joys of Reese’s peanut butter cups!  I asked him that night what his favorite part of Halloween was and his reply?  the chocolate.  Kid after my own heart!  🙂

What a fun, fun Halloween!
