arts & crafts

December 17, 2013

The boys obviously make so many crafts, or “pat-pats” as they call them, up at school. I try to save some – but I don’t feel obligated to save the ones that they had very little participation in making!  If all they did was “pat pat” the piece of glued construction paper on, that gets a “great job!” and goes into the trash.  🙂

But, some are worth saving…or at least displaying for a bit!

Spencer’s hand Santa…

and the Santa Maxwell made!

I can also thank that Santa for the non-washable red paint that was on Maxwell’s shirt the other day.  Thankfully Susan was able to get it out!

I also got Spencer’s little magnet from school just like the one they made of Maxwell last year.

Both of them look really excited in their pictures, don’t they?!  ha!

School is fun for them and Spencer even got to wear his pjs to school yesterday!

Ho Ho Ho!  Too bad they said he uncharacteristically screamed and cried for a good bit of the morning.  Poor buddy.  Guess he didn’t know he was supposed to be jolly when dressed like Santa!  I don’t know what’s going on but I’m going to blame it on teeth for now.

See you tomorrow!

Letters to Santa!

December 16, 2013

Happy Monday!  Hope you all had a great weekend.  We did!

You’ve already seen Spencer’s letter to Santa.  Last week, Maxwell wrote a letter to Santa too.  Well, I wrote but he told me what to say. Funny – when I first asked Maxwell if he wanted to write a letter to Santa he said “Yea, I want to write an M”…as in a literal letter for Santa.  Made me laugh.  Anyway, here’s his letter…

Yep, trucks for all the boys – a dump truck for Spencer, a backhoe loader for Dad, and a backhoe loader and an excavator for Maxwell.  and Momma? I get underwear. Hey, at least it’s practical!

The very next day (magical post office you know!) Maxwell and Spencer both got a letter in the mail from Santa! and it was even postmarked from the North Pole!

Spencer’s letter…

Santa is very proud of how he’s learned to wave bye-bye and do patty-cake but told him to try to stop being such a wiggle worm.  🙂

Maxwell’s letter…

Santa is super proud of him learning to swim and play soccer, using the potty and being a great big brother.  He told him to try a little harder at eating all of his dinner and tasting new foods!

I’d say these two little boys are definitely on Santa’s nice list!  I mean…look at these faces…

How could these two EVER be naughty?!  🙂

Have a great day!

The most wonderful time of the year

December 13, 2013

It’s been Christmas season in full force around here all week!

Maxwell and Susan made a Frosty…

frosty

Yep, that’s a corn cob pipe, button nose and two eyes made out of coal…and a body made from two pillows! So crafty!

We played with some new Christmas surprises…

spatulas

spatulas!  what fun!

Maxwell got to decorate gingerbread houses with his buddy James…

james

He had so much fun over at James’ grandmother’s house and was only a little sad when I dropped his entire gingerbread house in the driveway when trying to get out of the car.  Splat and Oops!

I admired our Christmas tree as I was headed out the door to work out at 5:30 am…

Getting to see it all lit up in the dark was almost enough to make me happy about getting out of bed so early on a regular basis.

The boys and Susan baked a cake and wished Baby Jesus a Happy Birthday a little early…

happy bday jesus

I’m sure the Baby Jesus likes orange icing, don’t you think?

The boys did their best reindeer impersonations…

reindeer

Cutest reindeer I’ve seen!

And, finally, I made this video.  I’m sure you’ve seen these before but this had me and Robert cracking up!

Can’t see it? Click here. and go get the ElfYourself app so you can make one too!

Happy Friday and Merry Christmas!

Candy House

December 12, 2013

The Candy House – one of my favorite Christmas traditions!  Read here for a little history on the candy house.  I pulled it out the weekend after Thanksgiving and Maxwell couldn’t wait to decorate it so we got our supplies and went to it!

Maxwell did a great job both spreading the icing and licking it!

Spencer wasn’t sure what was going on but, when he realized there was candy involved, he was mad he wasn’t getting in on the fun!

So, I gave him a few M&Ms and a gumdrop…

and he was a happy baby again!

Not surprisingly and, much like last year, Maxwell did more eating than decorating!

But, he did get some of that candy on the house and was good at telling me where to put things!  🙂

In the end, we created a masterpiece!  The best candy house yet I say!

Especially the back which was Maxwell’s main contribution!

Here’s to Christmas traditions!

Happy Monday!  We had a fun weekend with a quick trip to Highlands, NC. Full details to come but, today, look who got to visit the big man last week!

With a Christmas shirt, santa hat and new Cookie Monster santa socks too!  Big stuff.  I mean, why are hats on babies so darn cute?
