Visitors!

March 23, 2011

Earlier this week we had a lunch time visit from Lu Lu and Granddad!  Unfortunately we didn’t get a picture of Lu Lu but we got some good ones of Maxwell and his Granddad…

3 generations of Browns!

Food update – Squash is a hit!  I think he liked them as much as sweet potatoes.  Maybe Maxwell only likes orange foods?  Carrots are this afternoon so we’ll test the theory.  Supernanny Susan also got him to eat bananas.  hooray!  The boy can’t live on sweet potatoes alone!

Would love to hear from you! 5 Comments

Sunglasses round 2

March 22, 2011

On Sunday when my mom and I were working in the yard, Robert and Maxwell came out to keep us company.  It was bright and sunny so the sunglasses were a must to keep the squinting away!

Too bad Robert was squinting!  He needed his sunglasses too…

But he’s still pretty cute, squinting or not!

Can you find me in the picture?

You can see me even better here…

Cute baby boy.

Food update!  Surprisingly, bananas and apples are still a maybe.  Not as good as sweet potatoes but definitely better than the pears!  Peas weren’t that big of a hit either.  We might have a picky eater on our hands!  I’m not too worried though – if he’s anything like his momma he’ll come around and love just about any food…except mushrooms.  yuck.

Would love to hear from you! 3 Comments

His future’s so bright…

March 21, 2011

He’s gotta wear shades.  really, really cute shades!!

Are you dying yet?  and laughing out loud?  I can barely handle the cuteness and think they are so funny!  GJ visited this weekend and brought Maxwell these awesome sunglasses.  They totally protect his eyes, can be worn with either side up and have a head strap so they won’t get lost.  Genius!  We love them and we love GJ!

We had a FANTASTIC weekend.  GJ, Maxwell and I hit up lots of fun stores and got Maxwell all ready for spring and summer with lots of new clothes.  GJ then very nicely babysat Saturday night while Robert and I went out to dinner (Chez Fon Fon – yum!) and then she babysat again Sunday morning so we could go to church.  But the nicest thing GJ did?  Help me work in the yard!  We got tons and tons of weeds pulled and things are looking good out there!

What else did we do this weekend?  We fed Maxwell fruits and vegetables for the first time!  We now know he LOVES sweet potatoes and HATES pears…I mean HATES pears.  It was honestly funny to watch him try to eat the pears…there was plenty of gagging going on!  I think we’ll move onto other fruits and leave the pears alone!

Here are some more pics of our cool little dude in his glasses…

This picture cracks me up…

Pucker up buttercup…

Checking out Robert’s newly organized and super clean storage shed!

Playing with GJ’s face…

Just being cool and letting his cheeks hang out…

I simply don’t think it gets any cuter than this…

Thanks for all your help this weekend, GJ!  Come back real soon!!

Would love to hear from you! 4 Comments

Huntsville Recap

March 17, 2011

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  Hope you’re all wearing your green!  🙂

As I mentioned on Monday, we went to Huntsville last weekend to see most of Robert’s family and meet the newest cousin, Andrew!  It was a great day…

Maxwell got lots of good squeezes from Lulu…

and had lots of fun playing with her face!

Maxwell then got to meet Andrew.  He couldn’t wait to get his hands on him!

Andrew wasn’t quite so sure what to make of Maxwell!  🙂

But he warmed up to him pretty quickly…

and they were instant hand-holding buddies!

Maxwell then enjoyed playing with some different toys…

and watching Andrew open some presents…

We then tried to take some pictures of Andrew and Maxwell together.  Definitely not as easy as it sounds.  My focus is way off (I blame the moving babies) and the color was terrible so I changed them to black and white.  Not the best but it was the best I could do in the light…

Maxwell kept giving Andrew “hugs” and it was just the cutest…

Sweet, sweet boys…

We then took some group photos on the couch.  Maxwell and Anna were having a grand ole time with each other!

Poor little Andrew almost got squished in the middle…

But everyone quickly realized and gave him the attention he deserved!

Before we left, Maxwell was sure to get a big hug from Aunt Messy! (although he clearly only had eyes for Holland!)

It was a great day all around!  We can’t wait to see everyone again soon!

Would love to hear from you! 5 Comments

A beautiful weekend!

March 14, 2011

Happy Monday everyone!  We had a fantastic weekend here.  It was “chamber of commerce weather” as my father in law likes to say!  Robert got some good yard work done on Saturday while I toted Maxwell around to a few shops to get him some spring clothes.  The prospect of shopping excited him so much that he just fell asleep in his car seat for most of it.  A win-win for all!  Sunday we took a drive up to Huntsville to see most of Robert’s family.  Maxwell got to meet his newest cousin, Andrew, who was in town from Virginia.  It was a great day with all the kiddos together.

Maxwell did fantastic around so many people and was just as smiley as ever!  Right before we were getting ready to leave (and 1.5 hours after his normal nap time!) we put all 6 of the kids on the couch together for a group photo and, despite the tired-ness, guess who still acted like a total ham?!  Yep, my little dude was just smiling, laughing and having the best time with everyone!  I love him so much.  Unfortunately, getting a group photo of 6 kids is not exactly easy. I’m going to go on and show you all the ones I took because the expressions on everyone are priceless…

What a crew!  As soon as you get one half of the couch smiling, the other half goes crazy.  Gotta love it!  Here’s one more of the two little bitties – they’re just 2 months apart and I can’t wait for them to grow up together!

And here’s an attempt at a shot of all the “kids”….we’re as hard to wrangle as the little ones apparently!  I think we’re looking at 4 different cameras in this photo!

All of these pictures were just taken with my point and shoot.  I took several more with my big camera that I’ll get up later this week.

We got home from Huntsville late Sunday afternoon and, thanks to the time change, still had some daylight left.  That, combined with the 70 degree weather, meant one thing – a beer in the backyard.  Robert, Maxwell and I had a great time enjoying the last bit of daylight together.

Notice:  No babies were harmed in the taking of these photos!

I promise we didn’t even let his lips touch the bottle!  But it sure does make me laugh!

One other thing (mainly just because I want to remember these sorts of things, but also because it’s cute) – At night, I always rock Maxwell for about 10 minutes before putting him to bed.  I don’t rock him to sleep but just enough to calm him down.  I also sing to him (You Are My Sunshine is the song of choice).  Lately, as I’m singing he’s been reaching his sweet little hand up to touch my face…he puts his fingers over my lips, gently grabs my nose, and just runs his finger all over my face.  It’s probably the best part of my day. Sigh.

Hope you all have a great Monday!

Would love to hear from you! 3 Comments
