Sharp dressed man

March 11, 2011

No Friday Favorite today. But I do have some cute pictures of Maxwell looking sharp in this outfit from LuLu…

“Maxwell, can you give LuLu a little smile to show her how much you like the outfit?”

“That’s not a happy face! Try again for a smile…”

“That’s a pretty good grin but I know LuLu would love to see a big happy smiley face!”

“That’s much better!” 🙂

Thanks for the cute outfit LuLu! Have a great weekend everyone!

Would love to hear from you! 4 Comments

Floridian Adventure part 4

February 24, 2011

Ok, this is the last bit of our big trip to Florida.  On Friday afternoon, we drove over to Delray Beach because I was helping to host a baby shower for one of my oldest and best friends, Andee.  She’s having a baby girl, Ellis, at the beginning of April.  I’m so glad I was there to help her celebrate!

I made this fun diaper cake to take over…

Supernanny Susan made this fantastic pink bow for Andee and it looked perfect on the mailbox for the shower!

All of the decorations were too cute in the bright, fun colors of Ellis’s nursery!

Andee got lots of great gifts.  My friends, Laura and Hannah, and I went in together to get Andee a whole tub full of goodies…

And, even though Andee is a loyal FL Gators fan, Laura and Hannah had to throw in a little Razorback love…

and I had to represent the AL Tide!

It was a great party all around and Maxwell loved all the attention he got!

Love these girls!

What’s that?  You want an update on “Operation Crib Nap”?  let’s just say we’re a work in progress.  I’ll be sure to let you all know when he’s snoozing daily in his bed!  🙂

Would love to hear from you! 4 Comments

Floridian Adventure part 3

February 23, 2011

Quick “Operation Crib Nap” update:  No Change.  Yep, Tuesday was pretty much as bad as the past 3 days.  He did fall asleep in his crib but woke up crying hysterically only about 20 minutes later.  Oh well…we’ll get there.  It just might take a few more weeks.  In the meantime, we’re just going to take it slow and put him in the swing if necessary to make sure he gets the rest he needs.

Continuing on with our big Florida adventure from last week…

After flying to Ft. Lauderdale, stopping in Jupiter to visit Keath’s family, and almost running out of gas on Alligator Alley, we finally made it to Naples.  We stayed there all week – Monday through Friday.  I set up shop and worked from my parent’s office while GJ played nanny and Daddo “helped” her.  🙂  We had FANTASTIC weather all week – a very welcome change from the frigid temps, ice and snow back in Birmingham!  The best part of the warm weather?  Getting to dress Maxwell in all sorts of cute short sleeve outfits!  I love getting to see his chubby little arms and legs.  For your viewing pleasure, here are SEVERAL pictures of some of his cute outfits throughout the week (I, as usual, cannot narrow these down)…

First up, cute green monkey suit….

Second, an adorable Penguin polo from our friend, Sara.  Pants optional in Florida.

Third, a cute Petit Bateau outfit…he looks so sweet with the jacket.

But then the jacket comes off and you get tough guy Maxwell in his tank top!  Watch out for him!

You’re real scared, aren’t you?  I could eat those little arms up!

Tomorrow – our trip to Delray Beach!

Would love to hear from you! 3 Comments

Floridian Adventure part 2

February 22, 2011

First, a crib nap update….pretty much a fail.  He cried for his entire morning nap.  In the afternoon, he did fall asleep (probably due to sheer exhaustion) but only slept for half an hour.  I then rocked him for another hour just because I knew he needed the sleep.  I let him take his 3rd nap in the swing (I’m a softie) and he fell asleep immediately with no crying.  Oh well!  Tomorrow is another day and we (or Supernanny Susan!) will persevere!

Second, I’m finally making my way through all of the pictures I took in Florida a week ago.  As I mentioned in my first post, we stopped to see my brother, Jen, Delaney and baby Nate on our way to Naples.

When we first arrived, Delaney was very intrigued by Maxwell and really wanted to pick him up…

Maxwell was a little surprised by her strength…

But ultimately Maxwell was a little heavier than Delaney anticipated! That’s our chubbo!

Delaney then decided that giving him some little hugs was better…

So sweet!  However, Delaney soon lost interest in Maxwell and turned her attention to Daddo.  Delaney’s current favorite thing to do with Daddo is to bring him every single toy out of her playroom…

He’s a good sport!

Maxwell was having fun just sitting and watching hurricane Delaney run around and around and around…

I’m not sure he quite knew what to think of her energy!  especially when it was focused on him!  🙂

She’s harmless though!  Look at that smile!

Delaney then had to go have a very important conversation with GJ…

But then it was time to get back down and run around and around and around again!

Meanwhile, Nate was happy getting a bottle…

It was crazy to me how little Nate was.  I can already barely remember Maxwell being that little!

We then thought we’d try to get a picture of GJ with her 2 oldest grandbabies….

Delaney wasn’t exactly being cooperative.  So, we gave up on her for a bit and got one of GJ with her two best boys…

GJ then asked Delaney if she’d like to get in the picture…

But she still wasn’t feeling it…

Oh well!  We then gave up on Delaney and got some good pics of all the boys…

Daddo and Maxwell then had a little chat…

I’m sure it was about watches…or cars.  They’re big buds!

It was a great visit all around!  We can’t wait to see sweet Nate and Miss Delaney (and her cute curly pigtails!) again soon!

Stay tuned for pictures from Naples tomorrow!

Would love to hear from you! 4 Comments

A Floridian adventure

February 15, 2011

Maxwell and I took a fun trip down to Florida last week for a few reasons:

1. Supernanny Susan was out of town Wednesday through Friday so I was nanny-less in Birmingham.

2. We’ve been missing GJ and Daddo.

3. I work remotely so can set up shop and work from anywhere with an internet connection.

4. One of my very best friends was having a baby shower over in Delray Beach on Saturday and I was a hostess.

5. I couldn’t take anymore cold weather.

All of these things lead Maxwell and I to hop on a flight last Sunday and head down to sunny Florida for 7 whole days.  I worked from my parent’s office while GJ nicely took on the role of temporary nanny to Mr. Maxwell.  Overall, she did a great job….despite a few missed naps and one (very minor) bruise on his poor chubby little leg.  Let’s just say Supernanny Susan’s job is not in jeopardy.  🙂  I’m just giving you a hard time, GJ – you were a fantastic nanny and we can’t thank you enough for taking time out of your busy schedule to help.  Maxwell and I are VERY lucky to have you.

After 5 days in Naples, we drove over to Delray to see 2 of my oldest friends – Laura and Andee.  Laura had flown in from Arkansas because we were helping to throw a baby shower for Andee on Saturday.  It was SO fun to see them and catch up.  I can’t wait to meet baby Ellis when she makes her arrival in early April!

I took lots of pictures with my big camera but didn’t want to carry it back on the plane with me Sunday.  My mom is fed-exing it back to me but I don’t have it yet so obviously don’t have any of those pictures to share today.  Don’t worry though, I have lots of iphone pictures and some from my point and shoot camera to share so you won’t have to wait to see photos of our Floridian adventure (such a relief, right?!).

The only bad part of this whole trip?  Being away from Robert for 7 whole days.  I hope we’re never apart that long again.  Here’s Maxwell looking very sad saying goodbye to Dad at the airport (the nice Southwest people let him come down to the gate with me.  Love Southwest.)…

Maxwell did great on the flights and slept the whole way.  After a quick plane change in Orlando, we arrived in Ft. Lauderdale where GJ and Daddo were waiting!  Maxwell was happy to see GJ but a little overwhelmed by all that was going on at the airport…

We then drove from Ft. Lauderdale to Jupiter to see Keath, Jen, Delaney and the newest member of the family, Nate!  I took all of those pictures with my big camera so will share later.  After we almost (and I mean almost, like within 2 miles almost) ran out of gas on Alligator Alley, we finally made it to Naples Sunday evening.  The rest of the week was spent with me working, GJ nanny-ing and Daddo taking it all in.  As I always do whenever Robert is away from Maxwell, I took daily pics on my phone to email to him.  Here’s a little montage of some of the silly faces I captured all week…

Other events of the week?

Maxwell helped GJ “work” at her desk…

tried on his SUPER CUTE new outfit for the baby shower and decided he didn’t like it…

but then changed his mind when he found out the “one sock” look wasn’t part of the deal.

On Friday afternoon, we drove over to Delray to see the girls.  Maxwell enjoyed the ride over…

And was so excited to see everyone he couldn’t be bothered to look at the camera…

Also, just to keep things real – even though the last two pictures were only taken about an hour apart, he’s in a different outfit thanks to some spit-up. I actually got to put on a new outfit too thanks to said spit-up.  And, yes, that shine radiating off of my right arm in the last picture is likely drool.  Spit-up and drool – story of my life these days.  God love him.

That night, I hung out with the girls at Andee’s great house on the water.

The next day I got Maxwell all dressed up in his cute little madras plaid for the shower.

I chose to not wear my hair in a ponytail…not the smartest move.

Maxwell did great at the shower and was a happy little guy hanging out in GJ’s arms…

and getting squeezes from Laura.

It was a fantastic shower.  Here are all the hostesses posed like we’re our own junior league chapter or something…

Funny, huh?

On Sunday, Maxwell and I got back on an airplane to go home to Birmingham.  He did great on our first flight and slept the whole way.  Our flight from Tampa to Birmingham was a little different.  Let’s just say he got on the plane in a different outfit than the got off in and made sure to make his presence known at the top of his lungs to all of his fellow passengers. But, we made it!  When we got to the airport in Alabama we had one happy guy waiting to see us!

It was a super fun adventure but we sure are glad to be home!

Meanwhile, back in Alabama, Robert went down to Montgomery to attend the Maskers Ball where our own little niece, Katie, was a princess.

I hated to miss the big event but am so glad Robert got to go.

That’s it for our big Floridian adventure…well, that’s it until I get my other camera back and share the rest of the pictures I took!  🙂
