Lake Family Reunion

July 17, 2014

On Saturday of last week, we loaded up and drove to Tim’s Ford Lake in TN for a little family reunion with Robert’s mom’s side of the family.  Cousins were in from California and everyone else drove over from Huntsville, Montgomery and Birmingham to spend some time together. It’s always fun to see everyone and how much the kids have changed.  Honestly, I was a little unsure about going considering what happened the last time we went (!) but we all managed to stay away from the hospital this time!  🙂

All the cousins in the best pic I could get!

Maxwell and Spencer are the youngest of the crew.  Evie, the next oldest, is 5.  I tend to think of Maxwell as such a big boy that it was different to see him around the real “big boys” and realize what a little guy he still is. I also learned the depth of Maxwell’s dog fear while there. While I have tried very hard to never react negatively to dogs when he’s around, he’s clearly my son and did not want to be anywhere near the two dogs…at all.  If he found himself within 3 feet of a dog, he would let out the most piercing scream you’ve ever heard.  Yea, that made things fun. Regardless, there was plenty of playtime without dogs around…

Plenty of “vacation food” like Lucky Charms!

and plenty of awesome views!

Maxwell loved floating in the lake…

While Spencer preferred a pool his own size!

There was water balloon fun…

BFF

July 15, 2014

My BFF, Hannah, stopped through Birmingham on her way to the beach with her mom and 2 precious kids, Caroline and Joshua.  I LOVED having her here and HATE that these are the only pictures I got.

U pick em!

July 14, 2014

Happy Monday!

Susan always comes up with the best ideas for entertainment. Last week she decided to take the boys to go blueberry picking!  Despite his face in this picture…

blueberries

Maxwell was actually really excited. Mainly because he got to wear his blue jeans which he would wear every day if I let him. And, don’t worry, I just ordered him some new ones since these are high waters all of a sudden! and why does he look 10 in this picture?!

Anyway, they drove out to Blueberry Farms in Dora, AL and had a ball picking the ripest blueberries on the bush!

Susan said Spencer ended up with way more blueberries in his belly than he did in his bucket!

Not surprising. Also not surprising? Maxwell didn’t eat one.  He said he wants us to make blueberry pancakes and waffles though!

I love their adventures!

The 4th!

July 11, 2014

Finishing up the Naples pics with the 4th of July! We started the day with a trip to the beach!

Spencer was dressed especially patriotically! (is that a word?)

We then went back to the house and enjoyed our last full day by taking it easy on GJ who had a broken rib.

gj

They’re so gentle with the injured.

GJ and Maxwell then baked a cake for America. They knew he was coming! 🙂

Cheers!

Then the cousins showed up and we had – what else? – another tea party!

We played trucks and princesses…

After plenty of outside play, the kids were pooped…

So we chilled out with some lunch and some Frozen (for about the 253rd time that week!)

It was a great 4th all around. I have to say though, Robert and I were the most patriotic of all…

Hope you all had a great week.  Happy Friday!
