Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend. Our weekend was much better than the end of our week last week, that’s for sure. On Thursday afternoon, I opened the door from running an errand to hear Spencer crying hysterically and Maxwell yelling, “Momma! Momma! Spencey fell and busted open his whole mouf!” Oh goodness.
There was poor Susan trying to console a hysterical Spencer who had fallen and, as Maxwell said, MAJORLY busted up the inside of his mouth. Apparently the amount of blood that came out of him was startling…and I’m frankly thankful I wasn’t home to see it. I did see the numerous towels that had been used to soak up the blood and, all I can say is, thank you Susan!
We’re not sure exactly what he hit but he tripped over a large tupperware bin with a school bus and rocket ship inside. He obviously broke his fall with his mouth and made contact with something that hit him just right…or wrong. The inside of his left lip was just destroyed and you could see the impact on the outside of his lip too. There was also blood coming out all around his top two teeth on the left. I called the pediatrician and they said that we could take him to the ER but they really don’t do stitches on the inside of the mouth. I then called the dentist and he said that as long as the bleeding had stopped and the teeth weren’t majorly loose, we didn’t need to come in right away. I also called Robert in a panic saying “come home now!”…just the call everyone wants to get at work!
Spencer finally calmed down and, after we were able to get some Tylenol in him, seemed to do better. His poor lip was fat and you could just tell it hurt. He kept pointing at his mouth and just crying. So sad. We actually had plans that evening to go to Family Night at The Club and actually decided to still go thinking the distraction might be good for Spencer.
(New red shoes!)
He did pretty good – he’s one tough kid – but did melt down a few times, mainly whenever he would try to get a bite of something and remember how bad his mouth hurt. 🙁 Thankfully, the balloon man and the dance floor were very good distractions!
By the time we got home, he was beyond exhausted. We put him to bed and I was sure he was going to wake up in the middle of the night because his mouth hurt, but he actually slept the whole night through. Thank goodness because he needed it! The next day his lip was just as fat as could be…
But he’s handled it all like a champ and has barely let it slow him down. I am taking him up to the dentist today to let them look at his two top teeth that got hit. That should be fun. ha.
So thankful it wasn’t worse! and another BIG thank you to Susan for taking care of my baby!!

Mouth injuries are the worst! So glad he didn’t need stitches.

We are so glad Spencer is ok. Thank goodness for Susan!
Dad says
He’s a tough cookie. Get better big guy!

I feel so sorry for Spencer. Ice helps! It appears that he fell on his face really cut his lip. He may be having dinner through a straw for a couple of days. I hope that he feels better soon.
