You know how you envision your life a certain way? Well, I always envisioned my life with 2 kids. Just 2.

Guess this is one of the few times I’ll admit I was wrong. 🙂

A couple of really cute things around here lately…
1. When we got back from the lake with all the cousins, Maxwell said he wanted to “color his fingernails”. Clearly the girl cousins had been having fun painting their nails and he wanted to do it too! I volunteered to go get some blue or even orange polish for him but he said “or we could just use girl colors?!” Pink, sparkles it was!

He even asked for a heart on his thumbs and big toenails! 🙂

2 weeks later and those sparkles are still on!
2. Last night Maxwell hit his head on the counter and was pretty upset. I got him mostly calmed down and he went and sat next to Spencer and tried to give him a little hug but, as usual, Spencer knocked him away and even accidentally hit him in the face with a train track. I told Spencer, “We don’t hit brother. He was just trying to love on you and you need to be nice”. I said it really more for Maxwell’s benefit obviously. Well, Maxwell then left the room and when he came back, Spencer just stood up and walked over to him, wrapped his arms around his waist, laid his head on his chest and gave him the biggest, sweetest hug. Maxwell and I honestly just stared at each other speechless. I guess Spencer totally understood what happened and knew he needed to love on his big brother!!! Awwww.

Of course, the hugging then turned into a game that really turned into wrestling! 🙂
3. This…
Best sound ever.
Make it a great day!
As I mentioned yesterday, we had a very low-key weekend. And since I have nothing else to talk about today, I’m going to tell you about it. Excited? Yea, I thought so.
We stayed in our pajamas until about 10:00 on Saturday morning…

Well, the boys and I did. Robert went out to the dealership at 8:00 to get a new tire because his had a nail in it! No fun!
We then went over to my parent’s apartment to finally bring back most of the stuff that we had stored over there when we were going to put our house on the market. The boys had a blast helping us sort through the boxes…

We also took about 15 trash bags of stuff to Jimmy Hale to donate. Feels so good to purge! We then all went to lunch at Moe’s to make Maxwell happy. When we got there, Robert and the boys got a table while I got in line to order. When it was my turn, the burrito making guy said, “You’re Spencer and Maxwell’s mom, right? Is Spencer feeling better? He was sick, right?” HAHAHA! We love Moe’s!
That afternoon, the boys had fun playing with all of the toys that they’d been missing for a few weeks.

Maxwell decided he wanted to dress up like a garbage man. After telling me to just order him a costume off of Amazon, we decided we could actually make one with his construction vest and gloves. The backward hat was his idea!

Looks pretty authentic to me!

Mostly we just enjoyed hanging at home and having the old smiley Spencey back!

On Sunday, I dressed the boys in these new Gap tshirts that I got on sale for $4! score!

Maxwell turned his garbage man vest back into a construction vest…

and then we got creative and made an airport for his airplanes…

Robert and I might have had a little more fun than we should have making that! I got glimpses of future science projects…Robert and I working in the kitchen while Maxwell sat in the den watching tv! ha!
On Sunday night we made pizza and I only mention it because it had pesto I made using basil from our garden, homemade crust, tomatoes from our garden topped with more of our basil. The only thing we didn’t make was the cheese!

Go us! And that was our exciting weekend.
Happy Monday! After weeks of traveling, we finally had a weekend at home and we took full advantage to do nothing! As I mentioned last week, Spencer, Robert and I have all been sick and we just needed a weekend to catch up on rest. It all started when Spencer got a cold with terrible congestion a week ago Friday. We went to the lake the next day and Robert and I came home with the same cold. It was a pretty miserable week as the cold knocked. us. out. Spencer was still obviously feeling the effects of it too because he was not himself all week. Not at all. I’m talking laying out on the floor, kicking and screaming tantrums every day. I had no idea what was causing it and even stopped giving him his Singulair to see if that was making him act crazy. I took him to the doctor on Tuesday to get him checked out but nothing was wrong except congestion. He also had this terrible bite of some sort on his cheek from the lake that I was afraid was causing something – what I don’t know?! But, the doctor wasn’t really worried about the bite either. We continued through the week with tantrums every day and then he was a terror during therapy Friday morning so I gave him some Advil after that and it seemed to make a big difference. He did fine all Friday afternoon and has had a GREAT weekend. Totally back to the happy little boy I know. Robert and I, after being sick all week and thinking we were done with the cold, both still felt pretty lousy, tired and lethargic all weekend. I just have to think that if Spencer was feeling that way too – with no real meds to help him out – then no wonder he’d been a pill all week!
Hopefully we’re back to normal now. And we thankfully got the ok from Dr. Maxwell this weekend after a thorough check-up!

Say AHHHHHH

Let me take a close look…

and a little closer look!

Taking the temp…

Apply magic all-healing plastic band-aid…

And a thumbs up from Dr. Brown!

Hopefully that’s the end of all the sickness for now!
Last week Maxwell got to have his buddy, James, over to play one afternoon. They had a blast….

It was a nice afternoon so I got the bounce house out for them to jump out some energy!

Spencey even got to join in on the fun!

James just lives around the corner so we just walked him home when it was time.

Cute little friends.
