Well…”star” might be a bit of a stretch! So, Spencer is taking his first turn at Sunday Soccer! Maxwell has played 3 years in the fall and now we’re letting Spencer play in the spring. Robert is his coach and his first game was on Sunday. The beautiful spring weather we had been having decided to take a hiatus and it was 50 degrees, windy, cloudy and COLD. Not exactly ideal soccer playing weather! It also didn’t help that Spencer really just didn’t feel good. His allergies had gotten the best of him and he had been coughing all day and really having a hard time getting a deep breath. He had already used his albuterol inhaler twice that day and we actually ended up at the doctor the next morning and are going to start him on a daily inhaled steroid. Poor bud. Still, he got out there and was having fun during the practice portion of soccer….

Go Spencey go!

It was then time for the game and, despite a good pep talk from Coach Brown…

he just couldn’t make it happen. There were plenty of tears – he wanted his ball, he didn’t want his ball, he was cold, and on and on.

I know another little boy who might have cried during his first soccer game too! But, Maxwell put it together a little better for his second game and I’m sure Spencer will as well. It’s all a good learning experience. Let’s just cross our fingers for warm sunshine next time!

ps – even though I can’t say I find those yellow shirts to be very attractive, I do think we could get him excited about being the Yellow Lions! 🙂 Roooar!
I would want to cry too! Here’s to better conditions for the next game!
I so love my little blue-eyed buddy! He’s SOOO tender hearted !
Conditions weren’t good at all, but he’ll feel better, the weather will warm up and Spencer the lion will attack!
Poor Spencey! Things will get better. He looks so official in his uniform!
