Happy Monday everyone. Unfortunately, our weekend wasn’t as holly jolly as it was supposed to be. Friday night poor little Maxwell did not feel well at all…and did not sleep at all. Robert and I were up with our crying, miserable guy all night. I finally got him to sleep with me in the glider chair from 3 to 5 am. Luckily our doc has Saturday office hours so we were up there by 8:15 am to see the pediatrician. I think Robert and I were honestly hoping it was an ear infection just to know there was an actual problem, but, no. Maxwell just has his first cold with lots of congestion. Unfortunately, the congestion makes his reflux hurt even more causing a very unhappy little boy. He was pretty pitiful all day Saturday. Robert and I were dreading Saturday night in fear of no sleep again but, luckily, we were able to get him snoozing pretty much all night by letting him sleep on us in the chair as we were able to hold him more upright to keep the reflux from hurting as bad. I think he also just wanted to be loved on…don’t we all want that when we’re sick? One of the saddest things is that he’s totally hoarse from all the drainage and crying. There’s nothing more pitiful than a tired, cranky baby trying to cry with no voice! Sunday has been much better so far…hopefully he’ll recover quickly.
Looking so tired and pitiful on Saturday…
Some of you might find this gross, but it’s the reality of babies…you’ve got to suck their snot out for them. The bulb syringes work good but I also got this neat little invention that works great! It’s a Nose Frida Snot Sucker. (www.nosefrida.com) You put one end on the baby’s nostril, the other end in your mouth and you suck the snot out!! Don’t worry, there’s a filter than keeps any of the gunk from reaching your mouth. Gross? totally. Satisfying? totally.
The good part about having to go to the doctor on Saturday? Maxwell got weighed and he’s up to 13 lbs, 11 oz! Our little CHUBBO!! We love it! He weighed 11 lbs, 15 oz at the beginning of November so that’s almost a 2 lb weight gain in a little over a month! He’s got at least a few ounces in his cheeks for sure! 🙂
Maxwell also got to experience his first snow this weekend! It wasn’t much but we had some flurries here on Sunday – pretty exciting.
Feeling better on Sunday…
p.s. Happy Birthday to my cousin, Laura, last week! Hope it was a great one!
It’s so sad when little babies get sick. Hope he is on the upside and doesn’t have the dreaded relapse!!!! Glad we found the snot sucker and glad it works so well! Those last pictures look as if he’s feeling much better – I believe he’s thinking about coming to Florida!
Poor Maxwell! Nothing’s worse than when you little one is sick! Hope he has a speedy recovery!
Snot sucker is more fun for Mom and Dad than Maxwell. I do think he’s getting better thanks to lots of Mom’s TLC. She deserves a huge pat on the back for her efforts this week….and always.
He looks pretty cute all bundled up in that first pic, sick or not!
Aw, hope he’s feeling better and that mom and dad stay well, too! I have to say that snot sucker concept is pretty gross, but whatever works…..Aaron said that if they don’t cry when you suction them then you’re not getting it far enough up in there! 🙂
Dear little Maxwell, Granddaddy and I are so sorry you are sick. We hope you will feel better soon. I am looking forward to seeing you on Thursday. We can have fun playing!!
