Over the past few weeks we had teacher conferences for both boys – and got two glowing reports!
Mrs. Betsy said that Spencer is a joy to have in the 2 year old class. She said he’s “all boy!” but comes in ready to learn and excited about the day. She actually said he usually comes in pretending to hide from the teachers and they play a little game of “where’s Spencer?” every time! Β π She said he listens well, follows directions, and is a leader – she said he’ll even tell others that there are no toys allowed in story time! She said the only issue they ever have is when he’s built something neat out of blocks or Legos and doesn’t want to leave it because he knows it will get knocked down! ha! Sounds like our house with all the Lego building going on. Jairus is his best bud and she said that he and Spencer have a great time together laughing it up over trucks and toys. She said he’s happy to play with all the kids in the class and gets along easily with everyone. She again commented that he really does have the BEST laugh and said that you can just tell he’s a really happy boy deep down. I just love hearing that!! Β π She said that she had zero concerns about him at all. Hooray!
We then had Maxwell’s conference with Mrs. Edwards. The things she said just made me proud to be his momma. She said he’s an excellent student and comes in every day excited to be at school. She said he listens amazingly well and always asks appropriate and thoughtful questions about whatever book they are reading or topic they are learning. He passed all the “tests” with flying colors – knows sight words, can identify all letters/numbers/colors/shapes/etc. His fine motor and scissor skills are on point! She encouraged us to just read, read, read to him because he’s ready to start reading on his own. She said focusing on rhyming words throughout the day will help that too. Interesting! She said that socially he’s great – he gets along well with the boys and the girls and is friends with everyone. She remarked on his artistic ability and his diligence in his work. She also commented on his good memory! ha! She could not have said more nice things about Maxwell and she thinks we will have a great elementary school experience next year!
This week was also Maxwell’s turn to be “Student of the Week”. He got to take in a poster all about him and share it with the class. I printed off some pictures and we glued them all on together and then he picked a few “favorites” to add as well. He, of course, then drew some neat animals all over it. I’d say it turned out pretty awesome!
I’m so proud of my two sweet boys. They are both hard workers and just good kids. Robert and I sure are lucky!
