Dinner time with a toddler is not the most fun part of the day. We made it a little harder on ourselves on Saturday than it had to be. Mistake #1 – Robert came home from a jog on Saturday and decided to take Maxwell outside at 5:30 right when I was making his dinner. Mistake #2 – we basically dragged him back inside 15 minutes later to sit at the table and eat. After 15 minutes of fussing I finally gave up and let him go play back outside with Robert and GJ. I then thought – maybe we could set him up a little picnic table and he’d eat outside! Worth a shot, right?
As precious as these pictures are (I mean, really – his little hands in his lap?!), eating outside was actually Mistake #3. The minute it took me to take these pictures was the only minute he actually sat there and I think that was the only bite of food he actually took. He kept getting up to get a truck, or to move his plate to the stairs next to GJ, or to do anything except actually eat. So much for that! Maybe if we had a real picnic table he’d actually sit still and dine al fresco? I don’t know but this time, eating outside = fail. I won’t give up though because eating outside also = less clean up! 🙂

Cute. We haven’t had much luck outside yet either yet. Hopefully soon! Love the hands.

Love the pics and the caption! Andrew is not much into food right now either. It’s all about the fun!
Glad to see all is well!
