On Tuesday, Supernanny Susan and Maxwell had a fun day out. Our power was turned off at the house for a few hours so they headed out to have some adventures, including visiting the ducks! Susan said Maxwell was pretty intrigued by the ducks…but she made sure to keep those mean looking black and red ones away from him! 🙂

See that mean one in the front? Scary looking!

Susan said she tried to put some bread in Maxwell’s hand to feed the ducks but he just tried to eat it himself! Not surprising!

Rice Cereal!

Even though babies were fed rice cereal after only 2 weeks back in the day :), we waited 6 long months to give Maxwell his first taste of “solid” food. I think he liked it! I think he also liked the spoon just as much and would have eaten that too if we had let him. He wasn’t quite so sure what to do with it all at first but he quickly got the hang of it and ate the whole bowl. He is definitely going to be a good eater I think!

Of course I documented the whole thing with my camera…we also recorded it on our Flip. Yep, first time parents here!

Doctor Update

Maxwell had his 6 month check up yesterday and all looks good. Shockingly, my little chubbo is not so chubbo after all! While it feels like he’s grown so much over the past 2 months, he’s only gained 1 lb since his last check up in early January! what?! Dr. Walley isn’t concerned at all though…he thinks he’s just gearing up for a growth spurt. Maxwell now weighs 15lbs, 13 oz. which is in the 50th to 75th %. Still above average! I didn’t write down his exact height but he was 26 inches and something which is in the 75th to 90th %. The doctor said his legs are long and look like the legs of a 9 month old! We got some tips for introducing solid food and can’t wait for the eating adventures to begin! It was a great report all around and we are so thankful to have a healthy, thriving, slightly chubbo little boy!

Maxwell was very happy letting Dr. Walley look at him. But when he actually came close with his cold instruments…that was a different story!

He was happy again once he was back in my arms…

But then the nurse came in to give him his shots and….well…see for yourself…

Poor buddy. Breaks my heart. But, you’ll all be happy to know that he was back to his smiley self by that afternoon…

6 Months Old!

Our baby boy turned a whole half of a year last week! This whole growing up thing is going WAY TOO FAST! I think this 6 month age might be as close to perfect as things get – Maxwell is SUCH a happy little guy. He laughs, he giggles, he smiles – he just lights up the room every single day. He babbles constantly and Robert and I crack up at the different sounds coming out of his mouth. Although we had a rough patch with the naps, I think we’ve turned that corner. The past week – even though we’ve been living through tons of construction at the house – he’s been napping great and barely crying in his bed at all. He may not sleep the whole time he’s in his bed, but he’s not crying so I’ll take it! He’s learning to entertain himself and I love it. He still takes a nap at 9:00 am and 1:00 pm and then some days he still gets in a 3rd short nap around 4:30. Sleeping at night continues to be fantastic – we put him to bed at 7:00 pm and don’t hear a peep out of him until we go get him around 6:30 am. In the morning he’s just lying awake in there playing with his stuffed monkey waiting on one of us to show up and when we do, he gives us the BIGGEST smile you’ve ever seen. Let me tell you – there is no better way to start your day! He’s still eating 4 times a day and we’re going to be starting rice cereal this week. Big stuff! Though a bit wobbly still, he’s doing great at sitting up. Our little guy is just a joy – he charms strangers and gets compliments every where we go. I can’t believe how much I love him. Can he PLEASE stay this age forever?!!

But when I explained to him that his adoring fans NEEDED to see some cute 6 months shots, he happily shared some smiles…

The smiles didn’t last though and boredom quickly set in….

So, I brought out my secret weapon to get the smiles…Little Al!

Happy once again, we finished out the photo shoot with smiles and laughs galore!

Friday Favorite!

The great thing about our weekly playgroup is that I get to learn from all the other moms what toys are “must haves.” The house we went to last week had one of these little play tables and several moms said how great they were – fun to play with and also great for babies to pull up on. So, what did I do? Ordered one from Amazon immediately, of course! 🙂 Free 2 day shipping on Amazon makes that a no-brainer! The new toy has been such a hit I thought I’d make it a Friday Favorite.
