Happy Birthday Maxwell!!

August 30, 2016

SIX! It takes two hands to count his age now! My sweet, kind, incredible first born is SIX! It’s all gone so fast.

What can I say about this kid? He makes me so proud. He’s just a good, good kid. He’s smart and curious and the most observant person I know. He’s constantly taking in the world around him, remembering it, processing it…and then asking me all about it! Kindergarten is going to widen his world so much and that’s the best thing for him – just more to learn and experience! I don’t worry about him at all in groups of people. He’s kind and sweet and makes friends easily. He knows what he likes and can often convince others to follow along – but if they don’t want to, that’s usually ok with him too. He’ll adapt or just do his own thing. He’s responsible and likes to follow the rules. He’s not perfect – we’re working on some minor “back talk” and other little things – but that’s all part of growing up.

My favorite is to watch Maxwell with Spencer and Samantha. What a fantastic brother, leader, and role model he is for them. And he loooooves them both. Oh, how he loves them. He and Spence really are best friends and he loves Samantha more than anyone in this world. They are just as lucky as I am to have him….and he’s pretty lucky to have them too. Β πŸ™‚

He still loves big cats and animals of all kind. He likes to study them and learn about them and act like them! Dressing up is a favorite activity – whether he’s a ninja, a superhero, or a tiger! He’s a Lego master, a sneaky spy, and a whiz on the gymnastics bar. His art and drawing abilities are something else – so creative and detailed. I’m constantly amazed at what he can sit down and draw. He’s learning to read. He knows how to tie his shoes (in a triple knot!). He’s trying more and more new foods every day (thought still not his strong suit). He’s doing life right!

Favorite color – camo (RIP orange)
Favorite number – 6,000,095
Favorite restaurant – Mexico Lindo
Favorite thing to eat – cheese quesadillas and refried beans

Favorite friend – Butler
Favorite toy – Legos
Favorite animal – wolves
Favorite dessert – white cupcakes
What do you want to be when you grow up? No idea about that!

SIX

I don’t know how to accurately describe my pride in Maxwell or my love for him. He just constantly exceeds my expectations for what my kid could be. He’s awesome. He’s funny. He’s precocious. He’s respectful. He’s kind. He’s the best.

My favorite six year old in the whole world. I love him so so so very much.

color week

August 29, 2016

Wow! What a fun weekend we had! Maxwell’s party was fantastic. It really could not have gone better and we had a very happy birthday boy! Today is Spencer and Samantha’s first day of school and Maxwell’s actual birthday is tomorrow…no slowing down this week!

Last week at school was color week and Maxwell had a certain color to wear each day. I, of course, used this as an excuse to continue to take a picture of him on the porch every morning. Wonder how much longer he’ll tolerate it?

Monday was red. This picture makes me laugh so hard. Spencer was doing some little dance and Maxwell was having none of it! ha!

red day

Tuesday was yellow…

This shirt is a hand me down from Katie and Anna and it’s saved us on more than one “yellow day”!

Wednesday was blue…

Robert walked Maxwell to school that day and Baby was very sad she didn’t get to go…I mean, she had her purse ready and everything!

Thursday was orange…

and, don’t worry, Baby got to walk to school that day! Β πŸ™‚

This guy stayed back with me…

Friday was green…

and that’s the end of color week! Or so I thought! Friday afternoon I got an email from Mrs. Solai with a whole new list of colors for this week…guess that means an excuse for more porch pictures!! Β πŸ™‚

School Shoes

August 25, 2016

New school year = new school shoes! I originally ordered Spencer a pair of Nike Air Max for an upcoming surprise trip (shhh!) because they have a thick sole and I thought they would give him an extra inch or two he needed to ride some rides…

spencer shoes

They did! and he loves them! He feels pretty cool with his new “tie shoes”.

I liked them so much on Spencer that I ordered Maxwell some Nike Air Max of his own…

mbb shoes

he really loves them!

nike air max

I don’t like how they make him look like a teenager all of a sudden but…that’s life.

I also got them each a pair of blue Sauconys just like the red ones they’ve had the past few years.

shoes

Can’t go wrong with those.

Samantha’s a totally different story! Girls shoes are more fun – and more challenging! My sweet girl can’t just have two pair of tennis shoes and that’s it now, can she? Only problem is her chubby foot won’t fit in a lot of the shoes I tried on her! But, we ended up with some winners…

We kept the See Kai Run tennis shoes on her right foot…

shoes

the pink Livie and Luca mary janes on her right foot…

shoes

and then found these Cientas that are great (even if they do come with a fruity scent that I could do without! yes, the shoes smell fruity!)

shoes

Everyone’s feet are ready for school! Spencer and Samantha start Monday – off to new adventures!
