Happy as a pig in mud

September 17, 2018

Apparently it’s not only pigs that are happy in mud! We’ve been doing a big backyard project and one weekend there was a huge pile of dirt in the backyard. The kids wanted to play on it and I knew things were going to get dirty!

Yep. I told the kids they had to hose themselves off before going inside. Rookie mistake. They hosed themselves off alright – and hosed the dirt pile too!!

The dirt pile quickly became a mud slide and they thought it was the greatest thing ever.

Maxwell quickly bailed – he doesn’t like to get that dirty! But Spencer and Samantha were rolling around in it! They were having too much fun for me to care. It was hilarious!!

I have to admit – it looked pretty fun. I kinda wanted to hop in there too! ha! Nothing more fun than getting dirty!!

Back home

September 14, 2018

Of course, the only reason we got to go to London was thanks to GJ and Susan holding down the fort back home! They kept the kids fully entertained while we were gone and we cannot thank them enough!

School wasn’t back in session yet so they had full days to fill up. Susan took them to McWane…

they all went to dance together…

and they even got to go to Chuck E Cheese!

GJ got them over to flag football…

Not sure there was a lot of sleeping based on these sleepy faces in the morning!

She took them to a movie…

I’m not sure the kids missed us very much but, by the end, one little girl in particular was ready for her momma to get home…

I was ready to get home to her and her brothers too! A HUGE thank you to Susan, GJ and Daddo for holding down the fort!!

Have a great weekend!

London wedding

September 13, 2018

On Saturday we got up and walked around enjoying the pretty weather.

london

We did al little shopping and stopped in Harvey Nichols and then went into Harrod’s. I had been in Harrod’s before but did not remember just how massive it was! We started at the top and worked our way down and around every single floor – that took all day! We ended up having lunch there and had some of the best pizza ever…

harrod's

On the way home we walked through Hyde Park and saw the Christo installation, “The London Mastaba”. It was cool to see that considering I had been in NY during the installation of “The Gates”.

That night we headed out for the wedding! Black tie and looking sharp!

A wonderful wedding, a fantastic trip, and lots of memories made! Thankfully our trip home on Sunday was uneventful and we had 3 happy campers waiting for us back in Birmingham! Cheerio!

London festivities!

September 12, 2018

On Friday night, the bride (who is Indian) and groom hosted an Indian blessing ceremony and Sangeet. My friends and I decided at the last minute to dress in traditional Indian dress and I’m so glad we did! What fun!! I got my outfit in on an adventurous one day trip with my mom to visit the Global Mall – an all Indian mall right outside of Atlanta. Who knew?! I couldn’t convince Robert to wear traditional dress but he did get a bright new tie. I’ll take it!

It was fantastic seeing all of the guests dressed in their Indian finery. Lots of bright colors and beautiful fabrics!

The blessing ceremony was just lovely. It started with the bride and groom feeding each other cake so they will always be “sweet” to each other. How sweet indeed!

After the ceremony it was party time – and they knew how to party! Fantastic food, great music, even Henna!

Jolly old England

September 11, 2018

Back in July, Robert and I took the most fun trip to the other side of the pond! We went to London for the wedding of one of my childhood friends and lived it up! Thanks to GJ and Daddo, we even flew over in style! First class all the way!

london

london

We made it with no problems – because we drove to Atlanta that day to catch our flight instead of sitting in the Birmingham airport waiting for that leg to be cancelled! We even stood in the customs line behind Keira Knightly when we arrived! Fun! To fight off the jet lag, we just decided to keep going for the day and made our way over to the London Eye where we met up with Jeff and Erin…

We then got settled into the hotel and headed out to an early dinner…

We had dinner at Sexy Fish and it was excellent!

We got up the next day and had the breakfast of my dreams next to an open window with temps in the low 70s. Basically perfect.

We then headed over to see the Queen. Sadly, she missed our appointment but I waved at her anyway and then toured the state rooms of her palace and also checked out the Mews.

We then headed over to Sketch for tea. It was quite the experience!! Scones and tea sandwiches and caviar! and eggs for bathrooms! Robert was a very good sport. πŸ™‚

That afternoon we decided to head over to the Tower of London to see the Crown Jewels. They were pretty but, man, it was HOT outside and all the lines were outside. In fact, our whole trip to London was HOT! But, at least it wasn’t raining!

That night we met up with my other AR friends for dinner at The Social and had another excellent meal.

After dinner we finally got to see the Groom to be, Frank!

Friday brought some good shopping, down time, and lunch with my college friend, Kelly.

Fun all around – but the real fun was just beginning! More to come!
