While at camp, Maxwell’s cabin took a rock climbing trip…

whoa! Go Maxwell go!

They also took a paddling trip to Lake Jocassee. Maxwell unfortunately got a migraine that night but he said it made it ok. Bummer…but proud of him for perservering.

So happy he got to go on such fun adventures!

Lots of fun at camp!!

Proof that some laundry got done!

As he said in one of his letters home, “We got our laundry back yesterday. Everything came back except one sock so, in my book, a success!” ha!

Maxwell did lots of activities and especially enjoyed pottery and blacksmithing. He made some really cool things in blacksmithing – an arrowhead and two hooks!

Farm was also a favorite…

He was always smiling in all the pics so I’d say that was a good sign! More to come!

At the beginning of June we made the drive to NC to drop Maxwell off for 3 weeks of adventure at Falling Creek! This was his first time going for 3 weeks and I think he had just about as much fun as possible! We spent the night in Greenville, SC before drop off and had fun with his crew of friends.

Drop off was Saturday morning and, because of covid, things were slightly different. All the kids had to get a covid test before going and they retested everyone 3 days into camp. They also had to wear masks for any indoor activities. Drop off was just that – drop off! Parents were not allowed to get out of the car. Props to camp though because they had the system down! Drop off was super smooth and, while I would have loved to walk in and see his cabin, it all worked out just fine. Our special treat was to learn that the counselor helping him get out of the car was his actual counselor from his cabin! Even better to learn that he’s from Mountain Brook and is neighbors with one of my friends!! That made me feel great and I knew Maxwell was going to be well taken care of!

He was in cabin 11 and seemed to really like (most of) the boys in his cabin.

 

First day fun!

It was then fun and games for 3 weeks!! and I spent the next 3 weeks stalking the daily photos to spot his smiling face! Plenty of those to come!
