Last weekend Robert and I got to travel to Nantucket for the wedding of my college friend. I had been to Nantucket once before over 10 years ago and didn’t remember much and Robert had never been. I think we both walked away feeling so grateful we got to see such a neat place! My friend Katie’s wedding was beautiful and everything was done to perfection all weekend long. I got to catch up with lots of my college besties and the weather was unseasonably gorgeous. It all added up to a spectacular weekend!
We arrived in Nantucket Thursday afternoon following a 5am flight schedule that took us to Atlanta to JFK to Nantucket. We got checked into The White Elephant hotel and then started exploring!
That night there was a dessert party for the wedding guests at Galley Beach where we finally got to see the bride to be!
Friday morning Robert and I grabbed coffee at Provisions and then strolled and shopped all over the cute town…
Robert then headed for lunch and a beer at Cisco Brewery with the guys while I headed out to Katie’s family’s house for a little brunch!
The wedding was that night and it was beautiful!
The reception followed at the Nantucket Yacht Club and all the details were done just right…loved all these old pictures hanging at the entrance- especially the ones showcasing our round college faces! ha!
Of course, everyone took advantage of the beautiful setting for some pretty incredible pictures!
All of the Vandy girls lined up on the dock for these awesome photos…can’t wait to see the ones taken by the real photog instead of these from my phone!
The party was fabulous and the band was hopping. I’ve yet to find a wedding dance floor I don’t like and let’s just say my feet were hurting the next day! It got even better when they passed out doughnuts and captain’s hats late night!
I was feeling pretty cute in that hat! 🙂
The fun didn’t stop there though! Saturday morning there was a brunch at the Sankaty Head Golf Club. It was another beautiful – and windy! – day!
That afternoon, Robert and I were adventurous and rented a scooter to explore some other parts of the island. It was honestly a lot of fun – and FREEZING cold!
We made it out to Madaket Beach and had a lobster roll at Millie’s but then, despite how cool Robert looked on the scooter, we turned those things back in! Brrr!
We then headed out to the Monomoy section of Nantucket to go the house of my friend Allison’s aunt and uncle. A few of the girls were staying there and I’m so glad they invited us to stop by because it was honestly one of the most beautiful homes I’ve seen – the views of the town were incredible!
I could have gotten used to that life!
That night we had a good dinner at LoLa 41 and then stayed up too late laughing with everyone at the hotel bar. Perfection. Sunday morning we grabbed coffee and a quick hug with the new Mrs. before heading out on our 3 flights home…
Our connections were tight but we made it with no real issues and we had three very happy kiddos waiting for us at home!
It was a truly wonderful trip and I’m so grateful we got to go and experience it all! Maybe we’ll go back someday…after all, we never did make it to the Whaling Museum! ha!
A HUGE thanks to Susan for keeping the babies safe and loved. A little report on their adventures tomorrow!
What a special week-end! Katie was a beautiful bride and looks as if no detail was overlooked! Thanks to Susan for being with the three littles thus making the trip possible!
Great outing, it helps to recharge the batteries.
When are we going back?
