Mud Ball

November 12, 2015

On Sunday we had a soccer game despite the fact that it had been raining for about 2 weeks straight. There was a break in the rain for the game, but it was dreary and MUDDY! We were on one of the back fields and I think we might have had the muddiest field of all. We got there and Spence couldn’t wait to get out there and practice with Maxwell before the rest of the team arrived…

Within 3 minutes, he fell and got a little muddy…

Well, really muddy…

He didn’t care.

This kid is all boy!

It was a low turnout so Robert let Spencer “warm up” with the team for a bit and Spence was in hog-heaven! After he did a few things with the big kids, he ran back over to me saying “Momma! I did re-wee good!”

Despite hating being dirty, Maxwell was a trooper and slipped and slid all over that field! At one point, Maxwell did a belly slide into the goal…he was the first to really eat it in the mud. He was tough for a minute but once Robert got over to him, he just couldn’t hold those tears in. After a break on the side line and little water he was good to go again. By that point, everyone was falling all over the place. It was honestly hilarious. The boys were covered in mud and surprisingly, none of them thought it was very cool or fun at all!

They played with a lot of heart and had a great game. Maxwell scored one goal with the ball…and one goal with his body! ha!

Meanwhile, I entertained Pig Pen on the side lines with not 1, not 2, but 3 suckers. I’m a sucker.

Baby Mantha enjoyed the game mud-free from the sling!

Everyone was pretty dirty at the end of the game but it was worth it!

Loved it. Maxwell showed some grit out there! We needed Spencer out there, wish he was playing.
