At school the kids can apply to join the robotics team in 4th grade. Maxwell applied and got in but then the season got cancelled because of Covid. They came back this year stronger than ever though! He and Jack are on a team with two 6th graders, Thomas and Walker. They’ve been working so hard on their robot for weeks and finally had their first robotics competition last night. I had no idea what to expect but it was really cool!
Maxwell had fun seeing some friends too!
They had 4 matches where they put their robot on the field and try to move balls around to earn points. Getting a ball in the basket is big points as is getting your robot to hang. Team BLTC (bacon lettuce tomato and cheese!) got theirs to hang more than once!
I had to come and go to get Spencer and Samantha so missed it when Maxwell drove the robot with Thomas but they got 16 points when it was his turn so that’s great! After the 4 matches, BLTC was in 2nd place! Wow!
The top 8 teams went into the finals and it was intense with everyone watching but they WON!!! Thomas got their robot to hang and the other team on the field (that you compete WITH, not against) made a basket so that was huge! So proud of these boys and so were their teachers!
All of the teams from MBE…
Their big win earned them a bid to compete at the state competition in Auburn in February! Really cool! Guess we just got our President’s Day weekend plans set!
I’m so so proud of these boys!! Go Team BLTC!
Have a great weekend – we sure will! Both boys are playing in the Super Bowl! That’s right, not only does Maxwell win robotics competitions, but he wins at football too! Woohoo!

This is exciting and creative. Designing and building, then operating their systems is fun and great experience.

Way to go M! Good luck this weekend and at state. I know you’ll nail it.
