We had a gorgeous, spring-like weekend here and I loved every second of it. We soaked up the sun and warm temps and spent as much time as possible outside. I even let Maxwell skip his nap on Sunday on the condition that he play outside the entire time…I just couldn’t make him go to bed and miss the beautiful weather.
We didn’t do anything particularly exciting or interesting. We went to the tot lot – twice. We played in the sand table. We made pizza at home. It was mundane…and wonderful.
I often find myself so focused on what’s next – when are we going to get a bigger house, time to travel, more of this, more of that. But, this weekend I had a moment where I just so clearly realized that, this is it. This is what it’s all about. This exhausting time when our babies are little, this is it and someday, very soon, I will miss this. I will miss these sunny days in the backyard when our boys want to play with no one else but us. I will miss these days when Maxwell can barely throw a football and definitely can’t catch one. I will miss these days when Spencer is bobbling unsteadily around our sloping backyard, desperately trying to keep up with big brother and belly laughing all the way. I will miss these days so I need to appreciate them.
I know there will be exciting days and big events in my boys’ lives, but I hope these mundane days in the backyard stick in their minds too.
I know they will stick in mine.
Have a great week!

I had so much fun and you didn’t even see the Sunday pics. Let’s just say fireman Maxwell cooled off an otherwise hot day. Love making memories with these great little guys.

This reminds me of the story of the house across the valley with golden windows, I think you may have found the house with the golden windows.
