Skiing day 3

April 11, 2024

Tuesday started with a little more sunshine than we had the day before so things were looking good!

Temps were still really REALLY cold but a little sunshine goes a long way!

Everyone appreciates the lunch break always.

Post lunch and sun still shining!

We skied the back bowls which were really cool – but also hard to see as the clouds starting moving in and visibility got lower. Everything was just white and it was difficult to tell changes in terrain!

By afternoon we got on a lift and literally watched the storm move in while we rode up the mountain.

vail

By the time we got to the top you could barely see the chair in front of us…

vail

and it was another white out even scarier than yesterday!

We made our way inside for a hot chocolate break at that point! Thankfully the rest of the day wasn’t quite as snowy and we made our way back down to the mountain cold, tired and happy! We all had prime rib that night at the Lancelot Inn and were ready for out last day on the mountain!

Skiing day 2

April 10, 2024

The temps for Monday were looking downright frigid so we all covered our faces, got our hand warmers ready, and made our way out!

vail

We got to the top of the mountain and it was COLD and GRAY! It had snowed all night and there was so much fresh powder. It was awesome and miserable all at once! ha!

It also snowed on us almost all day long! Any skin showing was a goner…not sure how Robert is braving it here!

The moguls on the blacks are even harder with so much fresh powder. We all attempted a few and some made it down better than others (meaning Maxwell flew down every one and I was lucky to get down without falling!). I think Samantha took a tumble here…

but there were others she mastered with no issue!

Freezing but fun!!

vail

Not so fun? a white out! Scary and thankfully didn’t last very long.

Despite the conditions, we skied all day from 8am to 4pm and never slowed down! Love my adventurous crew!! We more than earned this after the long, cold day…

Skiing day 1

April 9, 2024

We were ready to hit the slopes on Sunday morning and had an instructor take us around the mountain all day. Her name was Liz and she was great – helped us all get our ski legs back and learn to navigate the (very large!) mountains of Vail.

It was a fantastic first day – we had temps in the 40s and blue skies most of the day. Just perfect!

Vail

April 8, 2024

We went to Vail for spring break this year and had SNOW much fun! We left Saturday morning out of Atlanta and got super lucky to get this alert on our phones about 10 minutes outside of exit 210…

alert

I don’t know why we got it but it saved our trip. If we hadn’t re-routed, we would have sat on the interstate for over 2 hours and missed our flight. Phew! We were glad to get into Vail right on time!

vail

Our hotel room wasn’t quite ready yet so we went and got our skis and boots…which took FOREVER.

But when we finally got the room we were quite pleased with it!

We decided to head into Vail Village and try for an early dinner at Mountain Standard…success and delicious! even if the kids drink of choice was a little sour!

Naples

February 20, 2024

Samantha felt well enough on Friday to hop on a plane and fly down to Florida for the long weekend. The kids had an Eday on Friday and no school Monday so we were glad to be able to visit GJ for a few days. We flew into Tampa because it was easier and had a good lunch at Nordstrom before fighting the traffic back to Naples. Saturday was a perfect beach day and we were thankful for the pretty weather!

Sunday was not a perfect beach day. Lots of rain but that was fine with us. We finished Eday work, saw a movie, played Uno, dominos and Bananagrams and just hung out. We like to just hang out! We headed back Monday out of Tampa…

and made it back in time for an orthodontist appointment. Hooray!

Samantha is definitely still in recovery mode but I’m glad we were able to get away for the weekend!
