Chain of events

July 25, 2012

Yesterday’s chain of events went like this….  Maxwell didn’t nap and screamed for an hour = I didn’t get my work done = I had to do all of my work last night and didn’t get to edit the awesome pictures that are sitting on my camera = another blog post with a pitiful iphone picture.  Boo.

I hate to blame everything on this but, when I went into his room Nanner was soaked where he had been chewing on him so I’m thinking teeth?  I don’t know but with all the screaming, my nerves are shot!

Thankfully we did get to meet up with our friends John Tanner and Walker for an afternoon walk.  A much needed escape from the house!

Let’s hope we’re back to normal with this smiley guy today…

In other news, Maxwell’s great great aunt Dodo had to have surgery on Monday and is in the hospital.  Dodo, we’re sending you lots of love and a great big long distance hug from Alabama!

Would love to hear from you! 4 Comments

Monday, Monday

July 2, 2012

Every other day, every other day,
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes
You can find me cryin’ all of the time…

Oh Monday, you’re killing me today.  Our weekend was part great and part not great.

The great part?  We got lots of fun and necessary things done, including buying a new ipad and having a little photoshoot at the house!

The not great part?  It was in the triple digits all weekend and was just about too hot to do anything.  I think the heat brought the crazies out in all of us.  Case in point – Maxwell decided he didn’t want to sleep in his bed and he only wanted to sleep with me in the rocking chair.  Goodness gracious.  I have no idea where that came from as he’s always been the BEST sleeper and loves his bed.  Over the past week, he’s wanted to rock for a just few minutes before going to sleep and I had no problem with that.  I loved it actually.  It was great snuggle time and, after a few times singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (or Tinkle as Maxwell says), he would ask to get in his bed and go on to sleep.  Well, on Saturday night, he just decided that he wanted to rock and sing Tinkle all. night. long.  I’ll spare you all the details but we dealt with SCREAMING crying for up to 45 minutes straight and I was in there at 7:30, 8:30, 9:30 pm and then again from 4:30 to 7:00 am.  Maybe he’s just getting me all geared up for another newborn!?  Goodness gracious indeed!

I decided to implement a firm “no rocking” policy from here on out because, clearly, you give him an inch and he takes a mile.  Things went better on Sunday with only about 15 minutes of crying at nap time and only 30 minutes of crying at night time (of course, we’ve had zero crying for about a year so “better” is a relative term!)

Hopefully we’ll be back to normal sleep soon.  I guess I should just be grateful that he’s been as good of a sleeper as he has been up until this point.

He did end up taking a great nap on Sunday so we thought we’d celebrate and beat the heat with a little cool treat…

Yum!  And here’s some other iphone pics from the last few weeks…

Please note the bottom left picture with the pigtails I was able to give him before he got all his hair cut off!  hilarious!  My sweet buddy boy.

On another note, this ipad is really only 50% mine and 50% Maxwell’s.  I got it mainly to entertain him on trips, etc.  What are your favorite apps for the 2 year old set?  Would love some ideas!

Hope you all are more well-rested on this Monday than I am!

Would love to hear from you! 3 Comments

Friday Favorite

May 25, 2012

Every night before he goes to bed Maxwell wants to read 3 books:

The Wheels on the Bus – a former Friday Favorite.  Maxwell can do all the hand motions and it’s precious.

Trucks – a former Friday Favorite.  Maxwell can point out every single truck in this book by name.  This book is so loved it’s now being held together by duck tape.

Construction Sites – today’s Friday Favorite!

He LOVES this book.  It’s a “lift the flap” book and he knows what’s hiding under all the flaps.  He can also point out just about anything on the pages that we ask him – ladders, wheelbarrows, crains, excavators, cement mixers – this boy knows his construction stuff!  Of course, it doesn’t hurt that we’ve looked at this book approximately 2652 times.  If you know a truck loving boy, I highly recommend this book and any of the other ones in the series!

I don’t know about you all, but am really needing this 3 day weekend coming up!  We have no plans and I couldn’t be more excited.  We’re going to do a little of this…

and a little of that…

Sounds great to me!

As a little holiday treat, Maxwell wants to leave you all with this as you head out to your weekend…

Friday Favorite

July 8, 2011

Today’s Friday Favorite is our new carseat!  This is a bit of a risk considering we’ve only had it one week and I don’t really know if it’s going to be a hit or not.  But, we committed to the Britax Boulevard so I’m going to be optimistic and make it a FF!  🙂  You can read all about it here – Britax.  We’ll have it for a while as it goes up to 70 lbs and will turn into a forward facing seat when Maxwell reaches 40 lbs.

We got ours at Buy Buy Baby and couldn’t wait to get it out of the box.  Luckily Robert had a helper to get it all ready…

A super helper who couldn’t wait to get in there…

A helper who really wanted to do it himself…

A helper who eventually pushed Robert out of the way so he actually could do it himself!

Then it was time to hop in…

And I think he likes it!

We’re off for a fun weekend driving around with the big boy car seat!  Hope you all have a wonderful weekend too!

Would love to hear from you! 5 Comments

10 months old!

July 5, 2011

Well, here we are…double digits.  10 months old.  I must say, 10 months old is pretty awesome.  Maxwell’s little personality is out in full force and he’s a funny, social little thing.  I hope he’s always this funny.

He’s pulling up to standing on every single thing and he’s so proud of himself.  His schedule is pretty consistent – up around 6:30am and back to bed at 7pm.  He continues to sleep through the night without a peep.  He naps around 9am and around 1 or 2pm.  The biggest change is how much fun he’s having in his crib!  Now that he figured out how to stand up in his bed, he has a lot more fun playing in there than before!  The past 2 weeks have been an adventure at naptime.  He can easily play in his crib for a full hour before falling asleep.  It’s hilarious to listen to him talking and squealing in there just having the best time with Nanner and Mr. Moo (side note – Mr. Moo has taken a clear backseat to the favored monkey at this point).  He’s down to nursing only 3 times a day.  He’s a good eater and is getting pretty interested in feeding himself.  He loves puffs, yogurt melts and cheerios.  We’re working our way towards other chunkier foods but are still consistently on the stage 2 foods.  He eats anywhere from 4 to 6 jars a day.  He’s mastered the straw sippy cup and loves it.  I can definitely see his desire for independence growing in how much he wants to hold his own spoon and cup!  Here are some other things he’s doing that I just want to remember…

  • Talks, squeals and babbles all day…especially while he’s in the stroller.
  • His favorite thing to do is crawl over to the cabinet under the tv, pull up to standing and pull out every single DVD on the shelf.
  • He loves to crawl to the vents and stick his head over the air coming out.
  • He’s starting to mimic us and will hilariously shake his head no all the time when we do it to him.
  • He loves to scrunch up his nose and snort in and out.  Trust me, it’s funny.
  • He’s definitely starting to respond to his own name.
  • When we take him out to eat or in a shopping cart, he can never sit straight because he’s constantly turning around to check out all the people around him.
  • If you tickle his sides he will really start laughing and let out the best belly laugh you’ve ever heard.
  • When he’s sitting on the floor and I reach down to pick him up, he’ll stick his little arms out to the side in anticipation.

He’s so cute, so fun, and just the best.  As usual, lots of pictures so enjoy!

Happy to be 10 months old!

Just chillin’ with his long legs…

Pulling up on everything…

Belly laughs with Little Al!

Happy baby big boy…

Love these dimples…

And love this perfectly round head…

Ok Maxwell, whatever you do, don’t smile…

Don’t smile, not one little bit…

Oh, don’t give me a half crooked smile…

It’s too much!  Definitely don’t give me a full big boy 10 month old smile…

Oh, you did it anyway!  I can’t take it!  The cuteness is just. too. much.

Happy 10 months sweet boy!  We love you lots and lots and lots!!
