We love summer!
Spencer played summer baseball this year just like Maxwell played summer baseball two years ago. Maxwell didn’t do it because he wanted to go to the 3 week camp session and it overlapped. Baseball or camp – hard choice! This was Spencer’s first year playing and I think he had a great experience! He had some good teammates and made some new friends. I really liked his coach and think these boys learned a lot! Ready for practice…

It’s a really intense 6 weeks with lots of games and practices packed in. Coach put Spencer in the shortstop position – a position he’s never played before! – and he rocked it! He learned it so quickly and really played some great baseball! I was so proud of him for learning something new and really earning that spot! So Shortstop Spence!

His cute team!

They did play in a tournament one weekend and it was an intense, hot and fun time!

Of course Samantha got to spend a lot of time at the ballpark too! Luckily she had some good buddy siblings on the team and loved playing with them – especially on the day we got drenched during a game!

I can’t say this team won very much…at all. In fact, I think they only won 1 game in regular season play. But, they hustled and worked so hard. My #12 was a winner no matter the final score!

Winners or not, they definitely had lots of fun together!!

They went into the final tournament in last place. It was a double elimination tournament and they lost their first game. We thought the end was near! Spencer had to leave a swim meet early to get to the next game. I stayed at the swim meet with Samantha but kept getting the text updates from Robert that they were actually winning! Woohoo! They won the game. Amazing! They were supposed to play the following night but got rained out so they played Thursday instead. Again, we really thought this would end it but, what do you know? They won again!! That meant a Friday night game…the same Friday that we were supposed to be in Montgomery for Maskers rehearsals. We sent Samantha onto to Montgomery with Mary Beth and Robert and I stayed in Birmingham to watch the Spartans play and I am SO glad we did ! They came out strong and won their game! AMAZING!! This determined boys ended up winning the “losers” bracket and got to play again. The first game ended at 6:30 and they were back on the field by 7pm. They finally broke their winning streak and lost that game but that meant they ended up in 3rd place overall. WOW! From last place all the way up to 3rd! Go Spartans Go!!!

I am incredibly proud of Spencer and all of the hard work he put into this team. There were long hot days, lots of practices, and really challenging games but he kept his spirits high, never complained once, and truly had fun!

He loves baseball and I love to watch him play!

Go Spartans and Go Spencer!
We got to go to our first official in person swim meet last week! Last year, all of the swim meets were virtual which was great and easy but we are back to in person meets this year. This was the first one of the season and it was at Country Club of Birmingham. My two swimmers were ready to go!

So many cute friends on the swim team!

The whole team was ready to get warmed up…

and then the lightning alarm sounded. Ugh. After a 30 minute wait we finally got to swim! Samantha was up first in a freestyle relay. She swam so hard!

Unfortunately they came in last but they were in an 8 and under category so competing against kids two years older than them! I was so proud of her!

Spencer was also in a freestyle relay…

They ended up getting 2nd place!!…out of only 2 teams but, still! They’ll get that 2nd place ribbon. So proud of my swimmer!!

Unfortunately Spencer had to leave right after this to head to a baseball game. We were hoping it get at least one other event in but the rain delay messed that up.
Samantha then did her individual events – freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke.

She was the heat winner for breaststroke!!

She ended up getting disqualified for doing a scissor kick at some point but that’s ok. She still got that heat ribbon! She didn’t win the heat ribbon for backstroke but ended up 3rd place overall so will get a ribbon for that! Woohoo!

A really fun night and a great learning experience! Can’t wait to do it again tonight!
All 3 kids are doing swim team again this year. It’s back to regular schedule with both a morning and afternoon practice. You can go to either or both – there have been many days my kid have gone to both! They really enjoy it and it’s so great for them so I am happy to get them up there for it! Friday is popsicle day so that’s always an extra incentive to go at the end of the week…

On Friday they also give the award for Guppy of the Week for the younger kids and Swimmer of the Week for the older kids. Guess who got Guppy of the Week last week?!

Go Samantha go!! She has worked so hard and was at practice twice a day I think every day that week! Hard work pays off for sure. We also did a mock meet to get some practice in for the first real swim meet and all 3 kids did great. Samantha was even a heat winner!

We love swim team!
A whole rainbow of hair options with some of the IG filters!

Better this than dying it for real! This girl does love a funny filter!

Love her!
