Open House

October 14, 2015

We had Open House up at school last week. The kids looked super cute so I attempted a porch photo…

Yea, that went about as well as expected. ha!

We had a good, if chaotic, time up at school. We got to see plenty of their artwork and chat with some of the other parents. Spencer’s artwork will come home later but we got to bring home his clay handprint…

Precious. I sure do love those sweet little fat fingers!  🙂

I loved getting to walk around Maxwell’s room. There’s so much good learning going on in there! We did get to bring home Maxwell’s artwork and these 2 were my favorites…

Back to school!

September 4, 2015

The boys started school this week and so far, so good! Maxwell was excited about his first day of 4K in Ms. Edwards’ class. He’s going 4 days a week this year Monday through Thursday – big stuff! Spencer was sure to give him a goodbye kiss – and slight choke hold! – on Monday morning before he left…

Maxwell was proud to be sporting his new orange shoes!

He had a great first day – even if he told me he only played by himself all day. 🙁  I don’t think that was entirely true! It will be an adjustment this year not having Max or Lila in his class but I know he’ll make new good buddies in no time.

On Tuesday, Spencer got to have his first day of school! He’s in Ms. Betsy’s class this year and is only going Tuesday and Thursday. I really wanted him to go 3 days a week but the only option was Monday, Wednesday, Friday and I didn’t want Spencer to go Friday if Maxwell wasn’t going to go. So, Tu/Th it is and both boys will be home together on Fridays to play with each other.

Spencey wasn’t nervous or hesitant about school at all. And he was pretty proud of his new “geen” shoes!

Spencer had a good first day too – even if he told me he didn’t play with anyone, didn’t eat lunch, and didn’t go on the playground! ha! I’m thinking none of those things are true!  🙂  I did get the most awesome email from his teacher that night.  She said, “Spencer, as always, had a great day!  I have to tell you he has the BEST belly laugh I have ever heard.  He gets to giggling and just can’t stop!  Makes me crack up!  I love it!” That sure made me happy. My little buddy really does have the BEST laugh!

I sure do love these boys and am so grateful they have such a wonderful school to attend.

Cheers to a great school year ahead! Have a great weekend!

End of the school year!

May 19, 2015

I can’t believe this school year is wrapped up! Both boys had their last day of school last week and I’m going to miss both of their little classes so much. They each had the sweetest classes with friends that I hope will be in their lives for a long time! I signed up to be the party mom for both of their classes and did these little buckets with a beach ball, candy and sunglasses…

I think the kids liked them. I also did cookies and popcorn for Spencer’s class while another mom did the food treats for Maxwell’s class.

Spencer did GREAT this year in his older toddlers class with Mrs. Alice. He really came alive – especially in terms of talking! – as the year went on and I know school played a huge part in that! We love Mrs. Alice!

So sweet.

Maxwell could not have asked for a better year either! Mrs. Kathy was wonderful for him. She loved him, he loved her and I love them both! Maxwell learned a TON this year. He’s a smart kid and I’m grateful that he has such a good school to encourage that even at a young age.

Not only did Maxwell love his class this year but he also loved doing Soccer Shots before school this semester. I went for the parent observation day and got a kick out of seeing his new skills!

School report

April 21, 2015

I had Maxwell’s parent/teacher conference recently and, man, it’s good to be Maxwell’s momma! There’s nothing better than getting a GLOWING report from your kid’s teacher. We sat down and the first thing Mrs. Kathy said was “Well, Maxwell has just stolen my heart!”  🙂 Love it!

Here’s the report from his conference earlier this year. Mrs. Kathy is just super pleased with how well he does in school. She says he comes in every day honestly eager to learn. She said you can tell he’s just soaking it all in and paying attention to everything. Here’s her little summary from the beginning and end of the year:

school report

She also describes your kid using 4 words at the beginning of the year and again at the end. Maxwell’s words in the fall were: Kind, Inquisitive, Imaginative and Leader. Here are his words for the spring:

mbb words

I’d say all of those describe him pretty well! Especially dependable and diligent! She remarked how she can always count on him to do exactly what he is supposed to do. As she said in conclusion, “Maxwell’s ready to go teach 4k next year!”  🙂

The night of the conference, we took the boys out to celebrate with some frozen yogurt. I’m so so proud of Maxwell and what a kind, responsible, good kid he is…I thought he deserved a little treat!

I love that kid!
