I have so many pics like this on my phone…

Off they go to conquer another day of school – a totally not normal, strange, frustrating day that they are absolutely making the best of! So, so proud of all 3 of them!
Like past summers (2019, 2018, and 2017), the kids did a reading challenge. Considering we had an extra long summer with no scheduled activities or sports, you’d think they would have whipped the challenge out in no time. YOu’d think wrong! They had very little interest in completing it but, with a little extra encouragement and help at the end, did get through it! Both boys read 10 chapter books and Samantha completed several boxes of the Bob Books – she was totally reading them by herself by the end!

The prizes? Fortnite Vbucks and an LOL doll of course! Proud of these kids for completing the challenge during the strangest summer ever.
ps – Maxwell needs new socks! ha!
Days 1 and 2 are under our belt! Everyone came home from Day 1 with big smiles…

and smiled even bigger when they saw the special treat I had gotten them! I figured everyone deserved a little “happy” after the first day back to school, right?

Day 2 and this girl was ready to get to Kindergarten!!

She gets out at 2:00 all through this week and was nothing but smiles when she got home…

Friday night we all went out to dinner to celebrate two days of school complete…

Unfortunately, Maxwell got a migraine and he and I ended up leaving dinner early to take him home. And his teacher was out on Day 2 and will be out for the next 14 days quarantining due to a potential Covid exposure. Ah well…you can’t win them all so I’ll take the highs mixed with the lows and make the best of it!
We’re back in school! I don’t know how long it will last but we made it through the first day and had smiles all around!

Can’t you see those smiling eyes?! Here, try this…

Much better!
Off to conquer 4th grade…

2nd grade…

and Kindergarten!

They had teacher gifts (hand sanitizer and a mask lanyard)…

cool new backpacks…

and new school shoes of course! They gave final hugs…

and then off they went.

I can’t think too hard about what all is happening – the pandemic, my baby going to Kindergarten, them having to wear masks all day – so I’m just trying to let it happen and take each day as it comes. I’m choosing to stay optimistic that this is going to be a fantastic school year for my 3 favorite people!

Let’s do this!
