Handyman

October 20, 2011

First, happy birthday to my cousin Anna today! Welcome to your 30’s! A great decade I think.

Second, is this my future handyman?

He’s got the outfit for it!

Weekend recap

October 10, 2011

Happy Monday all!

Hope everyone had a great weekend.  Our was good.  Robert cooked me a fantastic dinner for my birthday on Friday.  Maxwell even got in on the celebration too and enjoyed some of Robert’s leftover my birthday cake…

On Saturday Robert got Maxwell dressed and out he came in these hilarious squeaker Alabama shoes.  They were a gift last Christmas from Jenny and Ronnie and I didn’t think they fit yet but they did…and they are funny.

Want to see and hear the squeak in action?  Of course you do!  Here you go!

Robert got to go to the game Saturday night so Maxwell and I stayed home and kicked it on the couch together…

Sunday morning Maxwell played with ALL of his toys..

and then accompanied us on a trip to Home Depot where he helped Robert pick out a leaf blower/vaccum.

Maxwell was quick to point out which one was best…

and was very happy when Robert picked the right one!

Maxwell then helped us gather up some mums…

So we could make our front steps look like fall.  Success!

Great weekend all around!

Would love to hear from you! 5 Comments

Balloons and cake!

October 6, 2011

First, I am happy to report that Maxwell is feeling much, much better.  I think we’ve turned the corner and have our happy little guy back!  thank goodness!

Second, we had a rip-roaring, throw-down of a party for Robert’s birthday on Tuesday.  Not really.  We did have balloons, tacos and cake though!  What more could a 35 year old ask for?

I still had some helium leftover from Maxwell’s birthday so I decided to make things a little festive for Robert. When Maxwell saw the balloons I blew up for Dad, he had to have one himself…

Balloons and babies are just fun together!

I don’t think Robert really cared about his balloons, but he did like his cake!

I hope he thought it was a good birthday. And I also hope whatever he wished for comes true!

Considering he scored some box seats for the AL game this weekend, I think his wish might have worked!  🙂

Double Trouble

October 3, 2011

Happy Monday everyone.  As I mentioned on Friday, Maxwell wasn’t feeling so hot last week.  I was really hoping he would wake up Friday feeling better, but he didn’t. He was worse on Friday actually…just a generally miserable little guy.  I took him up the doctor and we got the dreaded diagnosis – double ear infection.  Ouch.  The doc said the right one was definitely very infected and the left one was just starting with lots of fluid built up.  We were sent home with an Amoxicillin prescription, ear numbing drops and advice to give him Advil every 3 hours. By that night, after 2 rounds of Advil, he was already doing much better.  While he’s still pretty pitiful…mainly because of the insane amount of snot coming out of his nose (really, it’s insane. I’ve never seen so much snot)…he’s on his way to recovery. I’d like to thank his nursery school class for so generously sharing their germs to build up Maxwell’s immune system. 🙂

Robert and I were supposed to go to a wedding down in Tuscaloosa on Saturday night.  Once we got the dreaded diagnosis, we debated about not going but, after seeing that he was feeling better Saturday morning, decided to go on and make the trip.  He was left in the very capable hands of Susan so I had no worries at all.

Here’s Maxwell Saturday morning before we left…dressed to cheer on the Tide!

I’ve only been down to Tuscaloosa once and it was for an AL game. There was no game in town this past weekend so it was a good chance to explore a bit and check out some of the devastating tornado damage. So sad.

We did take time to stop into the Bear Bryant museum…

and now I can say I’ve done that. Yep, that’s about all I can say.  🙂  In all honesty, it was interesting…and I’m glad they only charge $2 to go in!

We then got all dolled up to go to the wedding of one of my Vanderbilt friends, Kate. The ceremony and reception were at her home and everything was just spectacular.

Please notice Robert’s awesomely tied bow-tie that I tied for him (with a little help from YouTube)!

It was so fun to see a bunch of friends that I hadn’t seen in quite a while, like Adrienne and her husband, Josh.

Kate looked beautiful and her dress was gorgeous…

Too bad you can’t see her dress in that picture. I need to give Robert a less on taking pictures of the bride!

We had a blast and danced the night away…

but couldn’t wait to get home to this guy the next morning!

I’m hoping we’ll get our little buddy back to normal this week.  Being sick is the pits!

Would love to hear from you! 5 Comments

run Robert run!

September 19, 2011

On Saturday I was volunteering at the Camp Smile-A-Mile 5k so Robert and Maxwell decided to come with me and run the race!  Go boys go!  They did that 5K in no time flat and barely broke a sweat.

Here’s Mawell with his game face on getting geared up for the run…

Doesn’t Robert look official?

Smart runner tip #1: always warm up before the race!

Run Run Run Run.

Post race and not too worse for wear…

Smart runner tip #2: always hydrate after all the workout!

Proof that I was there too…

It was a fun way to spend a beautiful fall morning!

On Sunday we went to church. Maxwell was really excited about it too.

Don’t worry, he was happy when we actually got to church.  He did come home and take a 2 hour nap though. I think all this teething and growing is just wearing him out and contributing to a slightly cranky baby!

One more little story that I don’t want to forget. Last week Maxwell went to “school” on Thursday and when I went to pick him up I asked the teacher how he did.  She said he did great and then she said…and I quote… “I wish all my kids were like him!”  It was music to this overachieving, valedictorian mother’s ears.  He’s already excelling in “school” just like I knew he would!  Yes, I’m being a little silly here but, in all honesty, I was beaming with pride…even if she does say that to all the moms!  🙂

Here he was before his very successful day at school!

Would love to hear from you! 4 Comments
