Tastes like chicken!

So, what did Maxwell do next?

Granddad wins this one!  He said “I bet that he took one shoe off and put it in his mouth!”  Well…he didn’t take one off but he definitely put it in his mouth!!

He bit…

and chewed…

and gnawed…

and even licked a little!

I can’t say I blame him.  Leather and new shoes have always been my favorite smells…and sometimes they just smell so good you want to eat them!

Don’t worry, his fire truck shoes survived the gummy attack.  They were just a little slobbery…

He just wants to put everything in his mouth these days…including pears and green beans!  Yep, after a rocky start, pears and green beans are back on the menu.  We’re still working on peas though.

I also have an “Operation Crib Nap” update.  After abandoning the operation for several weeks, we tried again yesterday and Maxwell did GREAT!  He took two fantastic naps in his crib with very little fussing at all.  Hooray!  I don’t know why I was pushing it so hard before – I think this just proves he wasn’t ready.  We have had his swing in his room for the past few weeks so he has gotten used to going into his room for every nap.  Maybe that helped?  I don’t really know but I’m very encouraged by his sleeping today.  Let’s hope he keeps it up!

If the shoe fits….

Wear it for the first time!

Look who’s wearing shoes!!  Awesome, super-cute, fire truck shoes!

These shoes were actually a gift and have been sitting in his closet since he was born.  I’m so happy he can finally fit into them!  The best part about them?  they keep his socks on!  Maxwell REALLY wasn’t sure what to make of these odd things on his feet…

Maybe I can pull it off like I pull off my socks every day…

Hmmm…this thing won’t budge!

I guess these will be on my feet forever?

I then told Maxwell that the shoes would not be on his feet forever and that he actually looked VERY cute in his new footwear.  That made him happy…

and then I’m going to give you all one guess as to what he did next!

Monday, Monday

I guess Mondays aren’t so bad when they’re following great weekends…and we had a great weekend indeed!  Why was the weekend so great, you ask?  Well…

1. The rain that was supposed to ruin the weekend held off until late Saturday night and then didn’t rain again until late Sunday night. We ended up with a gorgeous Saturday afternoon and a rain-free Sunday!

2. Robert and I got all of our boxwoods trimmed and picked up all the clippings.  Picking up clippings might be the single worst yard job there is and I’m so glad it’s done!

3. My good friend from college, Lyndsay, and her husband Phil drove over from Nashville for the night.  They finally got to meet Maxwell – although I’m sure they feel like they already knew him as Lyndsay is a very loyal blog reader!  🙂  thanks Lynds!  Robert and I even got a sitter for Saturday night so we could all go out to dinner (Bottega – yum!) and have a little fun!

While Maxwell loved Lyndsay right away (how could he not?) he wasn’t quite so sure of Phil and his deep, booming voice at first…

But he quickly warmed up to him and learned that Phil is pretty fun!

Needless to say, Maxwell was not hurting for attention this weekend!

Food update – This weekend we learned that Maxwell likes prunes…and still doesn’t like peas!

Of course, that’s provided Mr. Moo survives Maxell’s “love”…

My little helper

Earlier this week I had a few things to finish up in the yard so Maxwell came outside to “help” me.

Not surprisingly, he wasn’t much help. He was a good supervisor though…

Momma, you missed a weed over there…

and you really need to pick up the leaves over there…

and…Hey! where are you going? I didn’t say it was break time yet!

Oh Maxwell…something tells me this won’t be the last time you boss me around! 🙂 As long as you’re this cute, I’ll take orders from you any day (maybe)!
