Best Ever
Monday was basically the best day ever for Maxwell. and I’m now basically the best mom ever. Why? I organized a play date with his 3 best buds. When I told him after school on Monday that Max, Lila, and James were coming over to play, I thought he was literally going to bust with excitement. I got numerous hugs and exclamations of “you’re the best momma ever!” which pretty much made my year. He’s so easy to please. 🙂 He’d been begging to have them all over forever and it was a pretty day so I thought, why not!
Lila was the first to arrive and listening to Maxwell play so sweetly with her was just about the cutest thing ever. “Oh, sure Lila! You can play with that!”
Pretty soon, the 4 musketeers were all together enjoying a juice box…

They LOVED getting all dressed up! The rescue crew was on patrol!

After a while, Spencer was up and was a little overwhelmed by all the “big kids” at his house!
But, he quickly learned how to play with those “big kids” and have fun!
It was a super fun afternoon and Maxwell is still floating on cloud nine from having all of his buddies over! So glad I did it and need to do it again soon! Also, just because it’s adorable, after everyone left and we were cleaning up, this is how Maxwell hung up his fireman uniform…

The Best Momma Ever
Goal!!!!!!
Well, here we are again. Soccer season! Maxwell is playing Sunday soccer for the second year in a row and, man oh man, what a difference a year makes. Last year was rough at the beginning of the season to say the least…lots of tears, not a lot of playing soccer! This year though? Maxwell is all about going after the ball and getting it in that goal! Robert is the coach again this year and we had a great – and HOT – game 1!

Maxwell got his soccer shirt (blue team again!) when we got out there so had to change shirts. Spencer kept trying to take his shirt off too because he wanted a special soccer one like brother!

After a little practice, the game got started and Maxwell was ready to go from the first whistle!
There were casualties right and left the whole game.
But, the good thing about 3 and 4 year olds is that they don’t have very far to fall!
Pretty soon, Maxwell got the ball and started heading down the field!
and GOAL!!!!
After a good smile and a thumbs up to me he was back at it again!
I love how he’s trying to block that other player out and get the ball…
He got control and started heading for the goal again!
GOAL!! No picture but he was pretty happy and took a water and Teddy Graham break. 🙂

Maxwell was super happy he got “3 balls” which I explained was actually “3 goals!” ha!
And while the 3 goals he scored were great, I was most proud of him for playing so hard and for getting back up after he got knocked down several times! That’s what we’re hoping to learn in soccer, for sure! I will say, 3/4 year old soccer is a hoot to watch – it’s barely controlled chaos – but they’re all so cute and trying so hard. I could not be prouder of my soccer player out there trying his hardest!

Catching up
Welcome, Monday! We’ve got a lot to catch up on. I was actually gone for half of last week and, as much fun as adventures away are, I sure missed my boys. I flew out to CA on Tuesday, spent the day in the office in San Fran on Wednesday, and flew back on Thursday. Phew. Big thanks to Robert and Susan for keeping everything running while I was gone!
A few pics from San Fran – me actually wearing real work clothes, my view from the office for the day, and my awesome dinner at Pacific Catch (it was worth photographing if only to make Robert jealous!) 🙂
Meanwhile, back at the dude ranch, the boys had a great time going to school, gymnastics and swim and even getting special treats from the Fire Station!
But, as I’ve said before, the best part of going away is coming back home…
A few other things to catch up on. We got a new car two weeks ago – one with a 3rd row to make room for #3! It’s an Acadia and, so far so good!
After Maxwell’s birthday party, we wrote thank you notes for all of his gifts and he wrote his name on every single card – in orange pen of course! I was super proud of him and only had to bribe him with a few handfuls of Pirate’s Booty! 🙂
(also have to note that he was super disappointed that his stationery doesn’t have firetrucks on it. In my defense, I ordered this before he could even talk so had no idea the love of firetrucks would be so strong! On that note, anyone seen any cute firetruck stationery? My usual go to, Minted, is failing me.)
Two weekends ago, Robert and I went to the AL game and had a blast in our (thankfully shady!) seats. Roll Tide!
The boys stayed home with Ms. Jen from school and didn’t miss us one bit! and yes, I wore Maxwell’s Big Al hat to the game – fits great!
Maxwell’s getting really good on his bike and the past 2 weekends we’ve gone on long walks where he rides the whole time! Go Maxwell!
We went to eat at The Club on Friday night and the weather was perfect. The boys loved throwing all of my change into the fountain…
and I loved getting a picture where they were both smiling (and looking off to the side, but, I’ll take what I can get!)…
Finally, I don’t have a picture for it but Robert started a new job Monday and had a great first week! He’s back at the company that he started with when we moved to Birmingham and we feel he’s just where he should be. We’re all super proud of him! We love you Robert!
