August 30, 2018

It’s here! Maxwell’s birthday!! EIGHT!!!!!! How has it already been eight years and, yet, how can I barely remember life without him?

Yes, eight is GREAT when you’re Maxwell…and when you’re Maxwell’s parents! This kid continues to be awesome on all fronts. He’s kind, respectful, dependable, a joy to be around, and just an all around GREAT kid. His teachers love him and his friends love him. He’s so aware of everything around him and soaking up the world every day. I’ve said it before, I don’t know how I got so lucky to get a kid like him but I sure am thankful. I love him for his kind heart, his sweet personality, and his curious questions. What a kid!

Not much has changed since last year – he’s still sports obsessed! Baseball has been king this year and he’s super into the MLB teams (and their uniforms! ha!). He still loves football and has taken more of an interest in NFL teams this year in addition to Alabama. Fortnite is a new privilege he got to get this year. Thankfully, he’d still rather be outside throwing a football than inside playing it on the iPad most days.

He also takes great pride is his outfits which tickles me. He’s very particular about matching his various sportswear and making sure socks and everything else coordinates. Jerseys are life right now!

mbb

He’s the very best big brother around. He and Spencer fight like junkyard dogs and drive me crazy many days. Pretty sure no one can exasperate Maxwell more than his baby bro! But they also love each other and watch out for each other. Maxwell loves loves loves Samantha and would hug her all day and night if she let him. She never lets him! ha! While our house is always loud and crazy, I am increasingly more and more thankful that they all have each other and that Spencer and Samantha have such an outstanding big brother like Maxwell to lead them through life.

Falling Creek

August 21, 2018

Robert and Maxwell spent the weekend at the Father Son event at Falling Creek camp in North Carolina. Considering Maxwell came home saying he wants to go for 2 weeks next summer, I’d say it was a great weekend!! Ready to head out Friday afternoon…

and getting all settled in their cabin.

Throughout the weekend they learned all kinds of valuable life skills like how to throw a hatchet…

how to throw a spear…

how to shoot a rifle…

riflery

and how to shoot a bow and arrow!

I’m sure all of those skills will come in handy soon! 😉  They also played warrior ball where apparently Maxwell was the champion of more than one game!

And they swam in the lake and went on the zipline…

These two had the best adventure and I’m so glad they got to go!

Can’t wait for next summer! (actually I can wait because the thought of Maxwell being gone for 2 weeks – or even 1 week – makes me want to cry but I know he’ll love it!!)
