The Lake

March 1, 2022

We stayed at the lake with some friends over President’s Day weekend and had so much fun – robotics competition included! We started off a little rough with Samantha and some mud….

but things only went up from there! The kids all played so well together and the weather could not have been more perfect!

Robotics

February 28, 2022

As I mentioned in November, Maxwell and his robotics team earned a bid to the state competition at Auburn. It was over President’s Day weekend and turned out to be a really cool experience! We made a full weekend out of it and stayed at Lake Martin with friends whose son was also competing at the competition.

The boys got up and headed to Auburn bright and early Saturday morning.

The girls and Spencer came a bit later. We watched the matches but also managed to get out for some lunch and sunshine. It was a beautiful day!

What a crew!

It was a long day for the boys inside the coliseum. It was a full day of matches with lots of sound effects, jokes from the announcers, and plenty of sitting around. But, the event was extremely well run and efficient! No surprise there.

The spectators did managed to get outside and enjoy the sunshine between matches.

All that sitting and watching was definitely made better by cotton candy!

The merch was pretty funny too…

And some of my favorites of the announcer jokes…

“What was the robot’s favorite dance? The roomba!” hahaha!

“You’d think french fries came from France, but no. They came from grease!” hahaha!

Maxwell and his team didn’t make it to the finals but they had a great day. They learned a lot, had some really good matches driving their robot, and took in the full experience. I’m so proud of them!

The school was pretty proud of them too!

Maxwell is excited to do it again next year and try to qualify for worlds!

Grandfriends Day

February 25, 2022

Wednesday was Grandfriends day up at school and the kids had the very best around to visit them! They all had to wear their school shirts…look at my cute twinkies!

They had both Lulu and Granddaddy as well as Susan visit their classrooms! Awesome!! I was volunteering and didn’t get any pics but Susan snapped two selfies…

I think everyone had fun seeing the classrooms, meeting friends and teachers, and getting a glimpse into the kids’ day. That’s more than they’ve even let the parents do this year!

I also had to pick the kids up a little early that day and caught this of the Bobbseys walking down the hall. Doesn’t get much cuter!

Love my cuties and thankful for all the “grandfriends” that love them so well!

Bears

February 24, 2022

Maxwell had an awesome rec basketball season playing on the Bears! His team had a good group of boys and a pretty laid back coach which all added up to plenty of fun! Like Spencer’s team, they ended with a 7-3 season and took 2nd place in the regular season.

The Bears made it to the finals of the tournament which was really cool! The championship game is played in Spartan arena and I was pretty proud of the sign I made for the game.

It was a really close game with both teams within a few points of each other from start to finish!

Luckily the Bears came away with the win!! 5th grade rec Champions!
