Easter fun

April 22, 2014

The Easter fun started last week when the boys got to go hunt eggs with Maxwell’s classmates…

Such a pretty afternoon!  I was also super impressed with Spencer climbing up this thing several times all by himself.  Pretty good when you consider he only started walking 3 months ago!

My favorite part of the day though was when Catherine’s mom was telling me that Catherine comes home from school every day talking about how she was kissing on Maxwell and that she looooves him! ha!  Looks like Lila might have some competition!  I asked Maxwell if Catherine (or Caferine as he says!) ever kisses on him and he said “well, not evvveerry day!”  ha!

The next morning I loaded up the car and my boys in the rain and we headed out to Atlanta…

road trip

where we met Robert at the BMW dealership! He had gone earlier that morning to get his new car! yay! We ended up getting to entertain ourselves for about 2 hours in the dealership which really wasn’t that bad at all.

dealership

Hey, we can have fun anywhere!  All 4 of us then got into one car and headed up, up, up the mountain to Highlands, NC!  Unfortunately, the rain followed us up the mountain and stuck around until Sunday morning.  Boo.

It didn’t bother Maxwell and Spencer though because they had Katie and Anna to play with inside!  To say that Maxwell adores those girls is an understatement.  And to say that they are very sweet, sweet girls for “entertaining” him all weekend is an understatement!  But, as Jenny said, “it’s nice to be adored!”  The kids had fun dying eggs…

We decided to color code them so they’d be easy to find Easter morning – Maxwell’s were orange (of course).

We took the boys to a local egg hunt that had been moved to inside the gym because of the rain.  Not exactly a challenging hunt but it was something to do.

The funniest was that Spencer kept going up and taking eggs right out of the Bunny’s basket!  Silly boy.

See you all tomorrow with some more pics of Easter day!

Hippity Hoppity

April 17, 2014

We’ve been hopping down the bunny trail this week getting ready for Peter Cottontail!

Maxwell got to hunt eggs at church last weekend, at school yesterday, and even in the backyard on Tuesday thanks to Mrs. Susan!

eggs

He said, “Momma! I think I have ONE HUNDRED eggs!” For the record, he had 54!

eggs

We dyed some eggs too.  GJ had sent us these neat pastic dyeable eggs that I thought would be great…

but they weren’t.  They floated in the cups and, no matter how long we soaked them, couldn’t get anything better than a dull pastel color.

So, Maxwell and Mrs. Susan dyed some real ones the next day so he could have a real orange egg!

The boys had fun up at Bunny Tales at the library of course…

and Spencer even got to work in a visit to the big bunny himself.

We’re ready for the bunny to come Easter morning!

Palm Sunday egg hunt

April 14, 2014

On Sunday we all made it up to church for Palm Sunday and stayed for the egg hunt!  It was a beautiful, warm day so they boys could definitely dress “springy” and I figured this is the last year I’d be able to put Maxwell in a jon-jon so I went for it. And I have to say that he looked ridiculously cute.  Spencer was in the jon-jon that Maxwell wore for Easter 2 years ago (with a broken leg!) as well as at Spencer’s baptism.  I have to say that he also looked ridiculously cute.

Attempted a backyard pic unsuccessfully…

Got a few in front of church…

After church was the egg hunt.  They tried to get all the kids to sit on the steps before the hunt so they could take a big picture…yea, good luck with that!

When the hunt started, the eggs for the “big kids” aged 3 to 3rd grade went really fast…as in every single egg was gone within 30 seconds before Maxwell could even get over there.  So, we went over to the “little kids” area and let Maxwell get the 6 orange eggs he wanted to get.  Yep, 6 orange eggs.  That’s all he wanted and when he got them, he was done!  Then he helped Spencer get 2 eggs.  He also helped Spencer eat his candy.  He’s such a good big brother.  🙂

Don’t worry though, Spencer was sure to snatch a piece of candy for himself!
