Christmas program

December 10, 2018

Samantha’s Christmas program was two Fridays ago and it was just as sweet as could be! She obviously looked precious for the performance!

susan

I had no idea how she would act on stage and, while she wasn’t necessarily hamming it up, she wasn’t as shy as I thought she would be. She sang her words – and was a bit of a wiggle worm since she was on the end!

I loved seeing her up there and with all of her cute buddies. They all had the voices of angels – unruly angels! But, angels for sure.

She was pretty proud to have both me and Robert watching her as well as Susan and GJ!

I was pretty proud to have Susan and GJ get up there early to save those front row seats! They are the best! Here are some other pictures her teacher sent…

Oh Christmas Tree

December 7, 2018

On an unseasonably warm and muggy Sunday last weekend, we got our Christmas tree!

christmas tree

We got it in the house and it was a leeeeeeetle tall!

Nothing some snipping shears won’t fix!

After having colored lights in 2014, 2015, and 2016, and then going back to all white lights last year, we decided to add back in some different colored lights again. We also moved it to a new location. The kids were big helpers putting all of the ornaments on.

Pretty and festive and we are ready for Christmas!!

Oh, Christmas Tree! Oh, Christmas Tree!

Final Highlands

December 5, 2018

We started Saturday morning with a cup of hot chocolate – the best!

After some morning rain, we finally got out to do an easy hike on Satula and burn off some energy with the Woods. Spencer managed to find every single puddle on the way up and down! ha!

Pretty views at the top…

and silly kids!

When we came back down the mountain, look what we saw! Spencer is MAJOR into all the Jurassic movies right now.

Spencer wanted to drive away in it!!

Samantha thought it was pretty cool too!

We then watched a great Iron Bowl that night. Roll Tide! Sunday morning it was time to pack up and head out. We had a pretty easy drive home – despite some crazy drivers around Atlanta. It was a wonderful trip all around! Big thanks to Lou Lou and Granddaddy for everything!

More Highlands again

December 4, 2018

On Friday morning we started the day with a healthy breakfast – chocolate muffins AND a doughnut! Woohoo!

muffins

It was bitter cold that day so we opted against a hike and went into town to check out the ice skating rink. Who did we see when we pulled up? The main man himself!!

“I want a mermaid Barbie” (which she already has 5 of!)

“I want Jurassic World Legos”

“I’m not ready to say what I want yet. I’ll let you know!” Ha!

legos

Something tells me these three are all on the “nice” list and will be getting whatever they want!

We then laced up our rented skates and made it about 30 minutes around the rink with our friend, Henry.

The kids actually all did great. Maxwell was on his own the whole time…

Spencer stayed with Robert…

They LOVED it and would have stayed all day if we could have. We’ll definitely do it again!

Such a fun day!

Highlands for Thanksgiving again

December 3, 2018

Like the past few years, we went up to Highlands, NC for Thanksgiving with Robert’s family and had a great time. We loaded up Wednesday morning…and we were really loaded up…

car

and headed out! It was a pretty easy drive, thank goodness.

We got there in time for the cousins to run around and enjoy the pretty weather.

On Thanksgiving we headed out to hike Whiteside Mountain, just like we did last year on Thanksgiving.

whiteside

It was another beautiful day with the most amazing views!

The kids did great on the hike and had lots of fun climbing.

We had no issues until the last stretch of the hike. Just as I was saying “no running!”, Samantha ran and tripped over a stump and scraped her arm pretty good. She got a piggy back ride down the rest of the mountain. It was ok though, I’ve had experience doing that! ha!

It was a fantastic Thanksgiving morning with my crew. They are my sunshine!

We made it back for lots of good turkey and dressing and pie…and naps!

No better way to spend Thanksgiving than doing something fun with your favorite people!
