Friday Favorite

January 27, 2012

It’s been too long since I’ve done a Friday Favorite around here!  This one is very special to Maxwell…a true favorite.

Wheels on the Bus by Paul Zelinsky

I bought this book before Maxwell was born and had no idea how much he would love it.  And love it he does!  No matter all the other books around, this is the one that he pulls out over and over again. He loves to pull and push and make things move.  The windows go up and down, the doors go open and shut, the driver says move on back, the babies go wah wah wah and the wipers go swish swish swish….at least they used to!  Maxwell has almost loved this book to death…evidence below of where the wipers used to be!

I think we might have to get a new copy to have around!

The book was also great to teach me the words to all the verses of the song…a song we sing a lot around here!  🙂  If you’re looking for a fun book for your kid or a great baby gift, can’t recommend this book enough!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Today’s Friday Favorite is not a favorite of mine but sure is a favorite of Maxwell’s.  The dishwasher!!  ha!  As soon as we open the dishwasher, Maxwell can’t get over to it fast enough.

He’s just so helpful at taking things out…

If only he was tall enough to reach the cabinets!

Have a great weekend!

Today’s Friday Favorite are these name tags by Name Bubbles.  We have the mini bubbles and love them.  My good friend, Hannah, gave me some and they are fantastic.  You can put them on anything from sippy cups to clothes.  They survive the dishwasher and the washing machine just fine.  I have labeled everything that goes to school with Maxwell with these and can’t say enough good things about them!  They make a great gift too!  thanks Hannah!!  🙂

We have a fun weekend ahead…a birthday party and Halloween festivities!  Today I’m leaving you all with some iphone pictures from October.  Enjoy…

See you on spoooooky Monday!!  Boo!

Today’s Friday Favorite are Maxwell’s AWESOME new red Elmo shoes.   They’re from Stride Rite – check them out here.  I thought the Ernie ones were pretty cute too but I had to go with Elmo.  Every little boy needs some red shoes, right?!

They are super cute and they stay on so much better than his New Balance shoes.  I think they’re also easier for him to walk in.

Plus, Elmo is quickly becoming a favorite around here and I love seeing his little face popping up out of Maxwell’s shoes!

We love our Elmo shoes!

Have a great weekend!

Friday Favorite

September 23, 2011

As Maxwell starts to eat more and more “real” food, mealtime becomes more and more of a challenge. Trying to think of new foods that he will eat is hard. Presenting him with new foods that he just throws on the floor is frustrating. Worrying about whether or not he’s getting enough to eat is not fun. I really want him to be exposed to all kinds of food and flavors. I know he’s a kid so chicken nuggets and french fries are inevitable…but maybe I can at least make it organic chicken and sweet potato fries?!

He still eats some baby food but I always mix it with chunkier fruit or cereal/oatmeal. I don’t feel bad about it because at least I know he’s getting fruits and vegetables in him that way! I also always give him some sort of finger food at every meal and try to get him to eat that first before offering the baby food.

Here’s a list of the foods he will eat with no problem…

Cheerios, baby food (Earth’s Best jars and pouches, especially the smoothie packets and Happy Baby pouches), oatmeal and any other kind of baby cereal, bananas, watermelon, strawberries, puffs, yogurt melts, YoBaby yogurt, some of the Gerber stuff (fruit strips, cereal bars, cookies), any kind of cracker, hummus (he looooves hummus on crackers), and avocado (mushed up and usually mixed with a jar of veggies). I probably feed him half of an avocado every day.  He loves it and I love that he’s getting all the good fat.

Here’s a list of foods he will eat most of the time, and throw on the floor some of the time…

Grilled cheese, quesadillas, waffles, french toast sticks, cheese sticks and cubes.

Now that he has more teeth, I’m trying to introduce even more finger foods.  A friend recently turned me on to the Dr. Praeger’s brand of frozen kid foods.  I’ve liked them so much that they are today’s Friday Favorite!  All organic, all healthy and all tasty (for adults too)!  So far we’ve tried the fishies and the spinach littles.  Maxwell liked the fishies but he loved the spinach littles.  Loved them.

He’s going to be strong to the finish!  toot toot!  I had to go to Whole Foods to find them but I think some major grocery stores carry them as well.

Adventures in eating!

Have a great weekend!
