Wholey Cow!

July 12, 2011

Thanks Robert for the post title! So, Maxwell is on his 3rd day of whole cow’s milk and he’s doing just fine. Below is a picture Robert took with his blackberry…sorry about the quality, I’m working with what I’ve got!

milk

That picture was taken around 7am and I love how his little eyes are all squinty like he’s just not quite sure he wants to be fully awake yet!

I wish I could say that I’m doing fine too…but I am nowhere close to fine. I have infections and essentially poison spreading all over my body and, let me tell you, it is terrible, scary and beyond painful. To give you an idea of how sick I am, I didn’t even want Maxwell to come up and visit. I honestly don’t even have the energy to sit up and look at him. That makes me so sad. Luckily Robert didn’t listen to me though. Seeing this little boy’s face was just the boost I needed!

appendix

While I was initially hoping to go home today, it’s looking like that’s not going to happen until Wednesday or Thursday.

I’ll take any prayers I can get for the pain to subside, the infections to die, and my fever to go down. Much appreciated!

To all those that have called, emailed, sent flowers, etc… Thank you!!! It really means so much. I promise to get back to all of you when I have a little more energy.

Would love to hear from you! 8 Comments

10 months old!

July 5, 2011

Well, here we are…double digits.  10 months old.  I must say, 10 months old is pretty awesome.  Maxwell’s little personality is out in full force and he’s a funny, social little thing.  I hope he’s always this funny.

He’s pulling up to standing on every single thing and he’s so proud of himself.  His schedule is pretty consistent – up around 6:30am and back to bed at 7pm.  He continues to sleep through the night without a peep.  He naps around 9am and around 1 or 2pm.  The biggest change is how much fun he’s having in his crib!  Now that he figured out how to stand up in his bed, he has a lot more fun playing in there than before!  The past 2 weeks have been an adventure at naptime.  He can easily play in his crib for a full hour before falling asleep.  It’s hilarious to listen to him talking and squealing in there just having the best time with Nanner and Mr. Moo (side note – Mr. Moo has taken a clear backseat to the favored monkey at this point).  He’s down to nursing only 3 times a day.  He’s a good eater and is getting pretty interested in feeding himself.  He loves puffs, yogurt melts and cheerios.  We’re working our way towards other chunkier foods but are still consistently on the stage 2 foods.  He eats anywhere from 4 to 6 jars a day.  He’s mastered the straw sippy cup and loves it.  I can definitely see his desire for independence growing in how much he wants to hold his own spoon and cup!  Here are some other things he’s doing that I just want to remember…

  • Talks, squeals and babbles all day…especially while he’s in the stroller.
  • His favorite thing to do is crawl over to the cabinet under the tv, pull up to standing and pull out every single DVD on the shelf.
  • He loves to crawl to the vents and stick his head over the air coming out.
  • He’s starting to mimic us and will hilariously shake his head no all the time when we do it to him.
  • He loves to scrunch up his nose and snort in and out.  Trust me, it’s funny.
  • He’s definitely starting to respond to his own name.
  • When we take him out to eat or in a shopping cart, he can never sit straight because he’s constantly turning around to check out all the people around him.
  • If you tickle his sides he will really start laughing and let out the best belly laugh you’ve ever heard.
  • When he’s sitting on the floor and I reach down to pick him up, he’ll stick his little arms out to the side in anticipation.

He’s so cute, so fun, and just the best.  As usual, lots of pictures so enjoy!

Happy to be 10 months old!

Just chillin’ with his long legs…

Pulling up on everything…

Belly laughs with Little Al!

Happy baby big boy…

Love these dimples…

And love this perfectly round head…

Ok Maxwell, whatever you do, don’t smile…

Don’t smile, not one little bit…

Oh, don’t give me a half crooked smile…

It’s too much!  Definitely don’t give me a full big boy 10 month old smile…

Oh, you did it anyway!  I can’t take it!  The cuteness is just. too. much.

Happy 10 months sweet boy!  We love you lots and lots and lots!!

Monday Funday Food Update

June 27, 2011

Happy Monday everyone.  Today is a good day because Maxwell did something fantastic yesterday.  He finally decided to pick up the puffs and yogurt melts that I’ve been putting in front of him for weeks and put them in his own mouth!  Not only that, but he also figured out how to chew them (even without teeth) and get them down without gagging.  woohoo!  I know this probably doesn’t sound like a big deal to you…but it’s a big deal to me!  It was literally like something just clicked in his head and he started picking up the food, putting it in his own mouth, chewing it and swallowing it.  After he had done it a few times I even gave him whole puffs and yogurt melts (I had been breaking them up into smaller pieces) and he ate them all with no problems.  Bring on the finger foods!!

In other feeding news, Maxwell has become a straw master.  He can drink out of any straw now and loves his straw sippy cups…

He loves to just play with the straw too…

He’s a good sipper!

So, now that I’ve got a self-feeder…tell me what your favorite finger foods are for little ones!  I need ideas!

Would love to hear from you! 3 Comments
