Mr. Roboto

November 5, 2021

At school the kids can apply to join the robotics team in 4th grade. Maxwell applied and got in but then the season got cancelled because of Covid. They came back this year stronger than ever though! He and Jack are on a team with two 6th graders, Thomas and Walker. They’ve been working so hard on their robot for weeks and finally had their first robotics competition last night. I had no idea what to expect but it was really cool!

Maxwell had fun seeing some friends too!

They had 4 matches where they put their robot on the field and try to move balls around to earn points. Getting a ball in the basket is big points as is getting your robot to hang. Team BLTC (bacon lettuce tomato and cheese!) got theirs to hang more than once!

I had to come and go to get Spencer and Samantha so missed it when Maxwell drove the robot with Thomas but they got 16 points when it was his turn so that’s great! After the 4 matches, BLTC was in 2nd place! Wow!

The top 8 teams went into the finals and it was intense with everyone watching but they WON!!! Thomas got their robot to hang and the other team on the field (that you compete WITH, not against) made a basket so that was huge! So proud of these boys and so were their teachers!

All of the teams from MBE…

Their big win earned them a bid to compete at the state competition in Auburn in February! Really cool! Guess we just got our President’s Day weekend plans set!

I’m so so proud of these boys!! Go Team BLTC!

Have a great weekend – we sure will! Both boys are playing in the Super Bowl! That’s right, not only does Maxwell win robotics competitions, but he wins at football too! Woohoo!

tooth Fairy

October 25, 2021

On Wednesday of last week Samantha’s loose tooth finally came out!! Thankfully I didn’t have to pull it either! ha! She let the school nurse pull it and couldn’t wait to show me when she got home!!

tooth

That tongue went straight in the hole. No gold tooth for her!  😉

That night she finally got to use the tooth fairy pillow that had belonged to me but now has her name on it too thanks to GJ! So so cute!!

The tooth fairy brought $5. She clearly gave Samantha the “first tooth special” just like she did for Spencer and Maxwell. Can’t beat it!!

100 books

August 13, 2021

Like the boys each year, Samantha did a summer reading challenge. The summer before 1st grade they all read 100 books! Maxwell read 100 books and Spencer read 100 books! The boys also had a summer reading challenge and could earn Vbucks for every book they read. They did ok…not our best summer of reading but that’s ok.

Samantha was a little slow to get started but then picked up speed at the end of summer. A big thanks to GJ for getting her going and finding some books online to read!

100 books

I’m so proud of this girl. First grade has been an adjustment. I just hope she knows how special and wonderful and brave she is! And very very smart!! 100 books! Her prize? LOLs of course! Two OMG dolls and two LOL dolls to be specific. She earned them!

Go Samantha go!

two wheelin’

January 12, 2021

We tried to make the best of our quarantine and a big part of that was getting Samantha riding on two wheels! Woohoo! It didn’t take her any time at all to learn. Robert ran up and down the driveway with her maybe 3 times and then she was off!

bike

She’s been on her bike every day since she learned and has been all over the neighborhood! She even got to show off her skills to Mrs. Susan who stopped by just to see her ride!

She’s even given her new robot cat a ride! 🙂

I’m so proud of this girl and she’s pretty proud of herself too! She’ll also be happy to tell you that she learned to ride younger than both of her brothers! 🙂

Go Samantha Go!
