Dr Update and More

January 21, 2014

Well, Spencey got two things yesterday – an antibiotic and new shoes!  Both are very welcome!  We took Spencer for his 15 month checkup yesterday and, aside from the congestion and double (!) ear infection, he looks great.  Since Robert and I both had the day off work, we all 4 went together for a little family fun!  Trying to entertain your kids while waiting in a doctor’s office is pretty miserable so when I say fun I mean not fun at all.  But, we were together!

Maxwell also brought his doctor kit and was giving Dad a check-up while waiting for Dr. Walley to come in!  🙂

Spencer is 25 lbs, 11 oz (90th %) and 32 inches tall (95th-98th %)!  I knew he was tall!  Comparison – Maxwell was 23 lbs, 31 inches tall at 15 months and 25 lbs, 33 inches tall at 18 months.  So, at 15 months, Spencer is basically the size Maxwell was at 18 months.

The only thing we need to start working on is Spencer’s vocabulary.  He sort of says Dada right now and that’s his only word.  He definitely needs to have more words by his 18 month appointment so we need to get that paci out of his mouth and get him talking!

After the doctor visit we grabbed lunch and then thought Spencey needed to go get his first pair of new shoes!  He’s been wearing his brother’s hand-me-downs for months (poor second child).  We headed over to Sikes and got him outfitted in some grey New Balances!

They make his feet look so big.  They’re a 5.5 wide so he’s got plenty of growing room which is good.

Exciting stuff!  Here’s Maxwell’s first trip to Sikes – he ended up with some grey New Balance as well.  Can’t go wrong with a classic.

Hope you all had a good day off!

Would love to hear from you! 5 Comments

weekend

January 20, 2014

Well, our weekend was half good and half…snotty.  Spencer is sick.  Poor, poor baby is so sick.  I’ve never seen so much snot come out of one baby’s head.  His face is raw, his throat has to hurt and he’s even had some fever.  Luckily we already had an appointment with the doctor scheduled for today for his 15 month checkup.  I won’t be surprised if we don’t walk out with an antibiotic for an ear infection.  So, Spencey looked like this the whole weekend…

snot

Oh, wait…you didn’t come here to get grossed out?  Sorry, moving on.

In non-sick weekend news, Maxwell continued to do great sleeping in his BIG boy bed and even earned a new fireman ax for doing so!

We officially completed the transition to the BIG boy bed by taking down his crib!

That gave us room to move his train table into his room and he’s loving it…and keeping his door closed at all times to keep baby brother out!  🙂

On Sunday, I stayed home with sick Spencer but Robert and Maxwell drove up to Huntsville to see all the cousins, including Andrew who was in town from VA!

So fun!

Finally, despite being a sick mess, Spencer really started to WALK this weekend!!  He’s been going up and down the hall, across the room, all over the house!  yay buddy!  He’s gaining more and more confidence very day and I bet he’s going to be running soon!

See you tomorrow!

Big boy bed!

January 14, 2014

BIG news around here!  My BIG boy has finally moved into his BIG boy bed!  Yes, my almost 3.5 year old was still sleeping in his crib and we both loved it.  I think he felt safe and secure and, frankly, I loved that he couldn’t get out of bed whenever he wanted!  🙂  But, when Maxwell finally said on Sunday that he wanted to sleep in his BIG boy bed, I said “let’s do it!”  So, we laid some ground rules about staying in his bed (or at least his room!) until his clock turned green, snuggled him in and went for it!

Overall, he did great.  It was a bit bumpy at first – Maxwell kept wanting to get another truck, grab more books, really do anything but go to sleep and then I heard him yelling “hayulp!” in his little southern accent and went in to find this…

Not the first time this has happened but it still makes me laugh!  After a rough start, he did actually fall asleep and took a great nap!

He slept again in his BIG boy bed that night and slept all night!  yay!  Didn’t fall out, didn’t wet the bed…go Maxwell go!!

My baby is growing up.  sniff sniff.

Monday!

November 11, 2013

Happy Monday and Happy Veteran’s Day!  It was a gorgeous fall weekend around here and we enjoyed every second of it.

Most exciting thing for the boys?  New carseats! Spencey finally got to move out of his bucket seat and is now sitting in the carseat Maxwell had…

More room for everyone and everyone is happy!

And after a few days of some rough naps, this little guy finally woke up happy on Sunday!  yay!

Hope you all had a great weekend too!  See you tomorrow!

Friday

November 8, 2013

Oh Friday, welcome.  I think I’m getting SAD due to daylight savings time.  It’s practically dark when the boys wake up from their nap and I get off work. I’m ready to spring forward already.  Plus, I think Spencer must be cutting teeth because he’s had some VERY fussy afternoons.  Wah-wah, huh?  Are you sick of hearing me complain?  me too.  Moving on…

1. I sent Spencer back to school this week after keeping him out for over a month with HFM, ear infection and just my general desire to have him home with me. 🙂 He’s done great and I think loves the interaction with other kids. But, man, does he ever come home dirty and tired!

2. Due to the early darkness, we’ve been spending time inside playing with toys…

bristle blocks

Maxwell loves to build planes and trucks with those Bristle Blocks and Spencer loves to eat them.  (thanks Jenny, Ronnie, Katie and Anna!)

3. We’ve gotten into some of these new Leapfrog DVDs that are great. (thanks GJ!) I think Maxwell’s going to be reading in no time!

4. Some funny pics of my couch potatoes watching the DVDs…

All is well…

ha! The pictures made me laugh. My funny boys.

5. We had a “Moe-mentous” day here yesterday! Spencer got his first Moe’s taco just like big brother!  If you’re a regular reader, you know Moe’s is a weekly occurrence and basically Maxwell’s favorite restaurant ever. I think Spencey liked his just as much as Maxwell did!  yay!

Well, that was about the most boring post yet. I’m going to try to get my real camera out this weekend and do better next week!  See you then!

Would love to hear from you! 2 Comments
