Back to work

May 4, 2015

She works hard for the money
So hard for it, honey
She works hard for the money
So you better treat her right!

It’s back to work today…luckily I’ve got these 3 cuties and their dad that definitely treat me right!

3 heads on bed

I’ve done it before…and before that…and it still stinks. I know it’ll be fine once we all get into a new routine but that doesn’t make it any easier. I’m gonna miss these 3 faces all day!

What a week!

May 1, 2015

Y’all…this week has been a doozy. This was my last week of maternity leave and it did not disappoint! Lots of exciting things going on around here! For starters? Spencer learned to use the potty!! Go Spencer go! I just decided he was ready and went for it as I knew that this would be my last week to fully focus on him all day long. While the first day was completely exhausting for all….

potty

he’s actually done GREAT! (with the help of a lot of M&Ms of course!) While I know he’ll have accidents and it’s still a long process, I’m honestly so happy to have the big hump behind us. He’s super proud of himself…

plus, he looks pretty cute in his big boy underwear! 🙂

Other exciting things around here? New toys for Samantha…

a breakfast date with my 3 favorite people while Robert was out of town…

Side note shocker – my picky eater actually liked my oatmeal more than his pancakes!

and beautiful weather to play outside!

We also had a playdate where Samantha got to see her buddy Sam again!

Mostly, we’ve just been doing plenty of hanging out and loving on each other.

Chores

March 25, 2015

We’ve started a little allowance system around here so Maxwell can earn some money…and start doing some chores! He gets a checkmark every day if he cleans up his toys and puts all of his dirty clothes in the laundry basket. So far, it’s worked great. Maxwell is the ultimate pleaser and he wants to get that check mark really bad so has never once complained about having to clean up! This all started a few weeks ago when the playroom upstairs was a disaster and we told Maxwell that we’d give him some money to put in his elephant bank if he’d clean it up.  We honestly thought he wouldn’t do it. He and Spencer were up in the playroom for a while and then Maxwell called us up there saying they’d picked up all the toys. Robert and I went upstairs and were SHOCKED…

chores

It was spotless. Every single toy was put away. Honestly, unbelievable. The best part? It’s stayed that way! He always cleans up after they play and Spencer helps too. (ps – I have no idea what happened to their clothes that night! ha!)

These pictures made me smile too – one afternoon after playing outside, I told them to clean up the toys so they put all the trucks away and then I looked out to see Spencer helping Maxwell carry the top to the sand table over.

I just thought it was the sweetest thing how they were working together to clean up.

Maxwell gets $4 every week if he gets a check every day (which of course he does). We’re saving up for something big from Target – likely a TMNT treat!

Friday!

March 20, 2015

TGIF! Although, it’s going to be a crazy weekend so I think I’ll actually be even happier when it’s Sunday!

Unfortunately, this week we had to make a trip to the doctor…

doctor

For the record, Maxwell was 36.4 lbs and Spencer was 34! Maxwell had a cold last week with some congestion but was largely over it. However, he was complaining that his ear hurt so I took him in and he has a double ear infection! Spencer now has the same cold and is a snotty, wheezing mess.

doctor

All we can really do for Spencer is a steroid and the oh so fun breathing treatments. Poor guy. One funny thing – I was rocking Spencer in the middle of the night when he was coughing so so so bad. He actually finally coughed up some of the junk all over me (gross) and then, in his half asleep state, said “Goodness!” just like I always say whenever one of the boys is coughing a lot. He then said, “Giant mess.” and I had to agree – and laugh. Sweet boy.

Another cute Spencer story I don’t want to forget…  Last week I was drying my hair while Samantha was asleep in her room and Spencer was playing with his trains downstairs. When I turned off my blow dryer, I heard Samantha crying so I went into her room only to see that Spencer had left his trains downstairs and had come up to her room to put the paci in her mouth when he heard her crying. He was kneeling beside her, sticking the paci in her mouth. I just about melted. Sweet boy indeed.

And a funny thing from Maxwell…on St. Patrick’s Day, we were playing outside and all of a sudden he said, “Look Momma! A clover and it has THREE sides! I think a Leprechaun must have come and planted it here last night!”  Ha!

clover

Also, Maxwell came home from school on Wednesday saying “Momma, I decided that I’m now going to marry Blair and let Max marry Lila. I was smiling at Blair all day today. Can she come over and play?” What????? Young love…

I guess I’ll give a little update on Samantha too. She had her first bottle this week when Susan kept her for a bit and drank it all down like a champ! Basically, she’s perfect.

samantha

She’s also definitely doing better in the sleeping department. She’s really only waking to eat one around 3am and is doing much better sleeping in her chair. Not perfect yet but we’re getting there. I guess I should start letting her sleep in her own room. All in good time…

samantha

Sorry, that post kind of went all over the place but those are some updates from around here! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Friday!

March 13, 2015

A few things that got me tickled this week…

First, I tried on Samantha’s Easter dress and felt like she might need some sort of hat to go with it – you know, an Easter bonnet! So, I got this one and just started laughing when I put it on her…

baby amish

Hello my little Amish baby! ha!

amish

The bonnet was returned obviously!  🙂

Second, Susan took the boys to feed the ducks on Thursday. This video of Spencer makes me laugh because 1) he has plastic bags tied around his shoes because it was muddy, 2) he keeps saying “catch duckie!” and 3) he can’t resist eating some of the bread. Funny boy.

Third, just because it makes me smile, here’s another video of Spencer saying “Baby Manta”…

We’re glad it’s Friday for sure. Robert had to travel for work so I had all 3 kids by myself for the first time. We made it fine but are all happy to have Dad home. Now we’re ready for a restful weekend…
