Y’all…I can’t handle this. I put pigtails in Samantha’s hair for the first time and was just dying. So cute and so funny!
Then we added a bow!
Dying. I love her so much.

Maxwell had his first basketball game on Saturday and it was definitely entertaining! There are only 7 people on his team and only 5 showed up for the game so that meant our 5 superstars had to play the whole game. They did great and were red-cheeked by the end!
Basketball at this age is funny – they try to make it all fair and nice and the defense isn’t supposed to actually “steal” the ball. Ha! They defensive players are supposed to get on the X’s in their zone defense and stay there. They can get the ball if it comes into the box or off of a rebound. On offense, they really want one kid to dribble down and pass it off to another player who takes a shot.
The first quarter was pretty comical because the kids really didn’t know what they were doing. But, after that they figured it out a bit and had things rolling. Maxwell did great – he dribbled great, hustled after the ball, went in there to fight for rebounds and even made two baskets!! Such a baller!! Β π
Most importantly, Maxwell had fun. After the game he asked if we could go buy a basketball and even went to the Y on Sunday with Robert to practice. I love this kid!
Their team name? The Bucks. Go Bucks Go!
As you know, we love AL football around here…Roll Tide!
The boys got to go to their first real game on Saturday and LOVED it!
Yes, they loved the football, but they also loved the popcorn, cookies, chicken fingers, pizza, and everything else they ate! ha!
Pretty sure Spencer’s favorite part was using the rail as a slide!
What a treat for these guys. Huge thank you to Ronnie for the box ticket hookup!
Roll Tide Roll!
A little of this, a little of that!
Fun at the playground…
Spencer was squirting water on the outside of the door and Baby went and got a towel to dry it off from the inside! ha!
A visit from cousin Margaret…
Maxwell got to go hang with his buddy, Butler…
I tried to load up the car and looked over to find these two like this in the garage!
Unfortunately, later that morning I was up at the doctor with Samantha to learn that she had a double ear infection. Her first! Can you believe that?
That was on Monday and she was feeling back to 100% by Wednesday. I took them both up for Spencer’s allergy shots on Wednesday morning…
but by Wednesday at noon I got a call from the school that he had 101 fever! Poor Buddy! Took him to the doc and seems to just be a fever virus. We have to get him well because we’ve got an Incredible Hulk party this weekend for our favorite almost 4 year old!
That’s all for now…see you tomorrow!
First, happy birthday Keath!! Do you know how to play “happy birthday” on the cello yet?! Hope it’s a great one!
Second, Spencer and Maxwell have easily transitioned into the school routine. No problems at all!
Samantha hasn’t transitioned quite as easily. Let’s recap…
First day (Monday) she cried at drop off but got happy fairly quickly and really had a great day! Hooray!
Second day (Wednesday) she sure looked cute in her red shoes…
but she cried at drop off and, sadly, never really got happy. When I went to pick her up that day, the teacher just said she didn’t have a good day. She wouldn’t let Mrs. Laura put her down, she didn’t want to play on the playground, and she didn’t even eat her lunch. π They were honestly concerned she was sick. When I picked her up, she wasn’t even happy to see me – she actually started crying as if she was just so overwhelmed with it all and relieved I was there. My heart basically broke at that point.
We then had a full week off because of Labor Day so we went back on the following Wednesday after our Disney trip.
I told the teacher to please call me if she had a bad day again. 11:00 – I got the call. Mrs. Laura said that she wouldn’t let her put her down. She wasn’t crying but she wasn’t having fun. She didn’t say I had to pick her up early, but I did. No sense in leaving her up there if she’s not happy and taking too much of the teacher’s time away from the other kids.
I was pretty sad at this point. But, the only way to get to the other side was to go through it, so back to school we went on Monday of this week.
Despite that pouty face, she had a GREAT day! Hooray! I got a text from Mrs. Laura around 11:00 with these pics…
Look, Tootie has a friend! π
She said she only cried for a few minutes at drop off and then got happy and played all day! We did take a paci for her and I think that helped even if she only used it a bit in the morning. I sure was happy to pick her up that day!
Wednesday of this week was even better.
Robert actually took her to school and there were NO TEARS!! and she didn’t even need her paci at all! Oh, my heart could just burst I was so happy for my sweet girl! Mrs. Laura sent me this picture…
I love that little girl. When I went to get her I snuck a picture before going in…
and when she saw me she came running up to give me the BIGGEST hug. Favorite part of my day right there! We then walked over to get Spencer and I think that’s Samantha’s favorite part of her day! When she sees Spencer she starts waving her little hand at him!
Now, I’m not expecting no tears at drop off again, but at least I know she can get happy and have fun at school. My sweet girl just needed a little time to adjust but she’s moving in the right direction! Hooray! Here’s to a great school year ahead!
