Samantha’s first day!

Samantha finally got her turn to start school last Tuesday! She was ALL smiles that morning…a serious CHEEEEEESE face!

She’s going Tuesday and Thursday this year with Mrs. Betsy in 2K – one of my favorite teachers that both boys also had. She was such a big girl going into class and, while there was a lot to check out…

The school year is off to a great start!

First day of first!

Yesterday was Maxwell’s FIRST day of FIRST grade! I think it’s going to be a great year. We went up on Monday to meet his new teacher, Mrs. Liddle.

She seems really sweet and Maxwell is excited he got her. He even took his 100 Books list to show her! She was pretty impressed. 🙂

Unfortunately, her husband had a heart attack last weekend (!) so she’s going to miss the first week of school. He should be fine though and she’ll be back next week if all goes to plan. The class has a great sub this week and it will all be fine. After all, we’re used to starting and ending the school year with a different teacher!

I’d say that’s a sign of a good day! I’m so proud of this kid and can’t wait for him to learn all kinds of fun things this year! Go Maxwell!

Haircut

Samantha had her first haircut last week! I’ve been debating what to do with her hair. It’s fine and thin and has grown into quite the natural mullet / Carol Brady do! Not the best look! ha! When she woke up from her nap last week with this bed head, I knew it was time…

I didn’t want to cut the front or the sides but the back really needed a trim. So, I took her up to see Misty where the boys go. She’s used to going there with them and I thought that would make it easier. Before the haircut…

She started to get a little hesitant but then got up in the chair and did GREAT!!

Misty did a good job – put a few little layers in the back to make it look better and really didn’t touch the sides or the front. It’s not super noticeable that she even got it cut but it did make a difference.

Under here, under there

Happy Friday! So, the “cool” thing for the boys to wear around here is Under Armour. It’s always the kids with older brothers that have it first…and then it trickles down to their friends. Over the past month or so Maxwell has been commenting more and more about Under Armour and Nike when he sees other kids wearing it. I resisted for a long time – I just don’t think he needs to wear sports gear every day – but, with him playing baseball and flag football, there is an actual need for athletic apparel. So, when he was pitiful after his surgery, I gave in and ordered him an Under Armour shirt.

I quickly realized that if I didn’t order a few more pieces, he’d wear that same shirt every single day! He’s got a few shirts now and some shorts and he’s loving it. He plans out his outfits every day and it’s the cutest thing ever.

He just wants to feel “cool” in what he wears and I can’t blame him. I want to feel “cool” too!  🙂

Firebombs!

Spencer had his first soccer game on Sunday and it was fun! He’s pumped about soccer – I don’t forsee any tears this year! Of course, he’s also got the best coach around!  🙂

Maxwell’s baseball game was at the same time as Spencer’s soccer game so, as I mentioned, Susan and Barry nicely went to the baseball game so I could go watch Spence. In order to get everyone where they needed to be on time, we had to wake up from naps a little early. It killed me to wake up these two sleepyheads…

but they were up quickly and ready to go to the ball fields!

Spencer gets to be red this year which made him happy because Maxwell is red also.

Spencer really played great. He hustled, he went after the ball, and he even SCORED A GOAL!! Woohoo!

It was a great game and the red team (officially named the Firebombs!) definitely won! He’s got some really good little players on his team.

By the end of the game though I could tell something was off. He just didn’t look like he felt well (you can see it in his eyes in that last picture). By the time we got home he was pretty miserable with fever. Poor buddy. He ended up staying home from school the next day and is still fighting off a mean cough. We don’t want our little soccer star to be sick!
