I mentioned on Friday that I was doing something VERY fun for the weekend and it turned out to be just that – VERY fun! I went to Vegas with 3 other girls to see Britney!! Oh yes, Ms. Spears herself. Hit Me Baby One More Time, You Drive Me Crazy, Toxic…all of it! Robert ended up having to travel for work through the afternoon Friday but luckily GJ was in town so she kept the boys until Robert got home. Unfortunately, Maxwell used that small 3 hour window to get sick – as in puke under his bed. Ugh. Poor buddy and poor GJ. And, poor me, because right when I got off the plane, he called me in hysterics begging me to come home. Break my heart. But, it all got cleaned up and he was back to his old self by later that night. Thank goodness because I had some Vegas exploring to do!

We stayed at the Palazzo at The Venetian all weekend but spent most of our time at Encore at the Wynn. We had dinner there on Friday night at Andrea’s and it was fantastic. After dinner, we gambled a bit and all won big…except opposite.

Saturday was actually a rainy day in Vegas (very unusual) but we got out early to check out some of the other casinos and, mainly to see all of the incredible floral arrangements everywhere…

We then had an awesome brunch at Tableau at Encore. I love brunch, especially when it involves good coffee and a trio of juices!

We then shopped around a bit before heading to the spa where we had appointments to get dolled up, Vegas style! 🙂 Well, maybe not Vegas style but more dolled up than I’d been in a long time.

We all got hair and make up done and felt very fancy! Check out my (obviously fake) lashes!

We also decided that, since we might never be this dolled up again, we should practice and nail the art of the “selfie”.

I think we did pretty, good! 🙂
Meanwhile, back at the ranch…

GJ was keeping the boys very entertained with a new golf set and bubble guns. The soap from the bubbles somehow ended up all over Spencer’s hair. Somehow I think Maxwell might have been involved! 🙂

After the spa, we headed back to get ready to go to dinner and to BRITNEY!!!

We practiced a few more selfies…

and then went to the Aria for dinner at Julian Serrano.

The show was at Planet Hollywood at 9:00 and we were ready!

It was a fun crowd with several people dressed up in the iconic Britney costumes through the years. Not us though, we were happy to be there with sparkles, blow-out and lashes!

The show started at 9:15 and she performed for an hour and a half. It really was awesome – the sets, the costumes, the back up dancers – all fantastic. It was cool to see Ms. Spears herself and how big/not big/tall/not tall she was (for the record, she’s small but not as small as she was back in the Slave for You days..but who is?!) Britney lip synched the entire show (no surprise) and danced…as best she could. She does a lot of walking and vogue-ing! It was totally what I expected and I did love getting to see her in person. In one part of the show they were playing montages of all of her videos and memorable performances and it made you remember all of the great songs she’s had and how so many images of her at various stages are burned into pop culture and your mind. She may be crazy but she’s got an impressive pop resume!!

After the show we went back to the Encore for a bit and people watched – which is honestly the most fun thing to do in Vegas! We had no problems with our flight home on Sunday and, as always, the best part of going away is coming back home…

A huge thank you to Robert, GJ and everyone else that helped me make this trip happen!
On Easter morning we had a bundle of bedheads all excited to head upstairs and see what the bunny brought!

But, we had to make them first take a pic on the stairs where Spencer tried to swipe Katie’s glasses!

We did end up with a cute one though…

We made it upstairs to find out that the Easter Bunny did indeed find us in the mountains! Hooray! He left quite a “super” group of gifts for the boys too – a Superman tshirt, some Superhero pi’s, some Superman and Batman books and even a reversible Superman/Batman cape! (rumor has it that the Bunny emailed GJ and Susu to get a little help in making the SUPER capes!). The boys loved it all!

And we all loved the sunshine that finally decided to come out on Easter day! Hooray! We went outside and let everyone run some energy out!

After a good meal and plenty of good conversation, Robert and I loaded up our little superheroes and headed back to Birmingham.

As much fun as we had in the mountains, it was good to be home. Robert and I tucked out tired selves into bed that night knowing we were being safely guarded by two snoring superheroes…

Hope you all had a Happy Easter!
The Easter fun started last week when the boys got to go hunt eggs with Maxwell’s classmates…

Such a pretty afternoon! I was also super impressed with Spencer climbing up this thing several times all by himself. Pretty good when you consider he only started walking 3 months ago!

My favorite part of the day though was when Catherine’s mom was telling me that Catherine comes home from school every day talking about how she was kissing on Maxwell and that she looooves him! ha! Looks like Lila might have some competition! I asked Maxwell if Catherine (or Caferine as he says!) ever kisses on him and he said “well, not evvveerry day!” ha!
The next morning I loaded up the car and my boys in the rain and we headed out to Atlanta…

where we met Robert at the BMW dealership! He had gone earlier that morning to get his new car! yay! We ended up getting to entertain ourselves for about 2 hours in the dealership which really wasn’t that bad at all.

Hey, we can have fun anywhere! All 4 of us then got into one car and headed up, up, up the mountain to Highlands, NC! Unfortunately, the rain followed us up the mountain and stuck around until Sunday morning. Boo.

It didn’t bother Maxwell and Spencer though because they had Katie and Anna to play with inside! To say that Maxwell adores those girls is an understatement. And to say that they are very sweet, sweet girls for “entertaining” him all weekend is an understatement! But, as Jenny said, “it’s nice to be adored!” The kids had fun dying eggs…

We decided to color code them so they’d be easy to find Easter morning – Maxwell’s were orange (of course).

We took the boys to a local egg hunt that had been moved to inside the gym because of the rain. Not exactly a challenging hunt but it was something to do.

The funniest was that Spencer kept going up and taking eggs right out of the Bunny’s basket! Silly boy.

See you all tomorrow with some more pics of Easter day!
On Saturday, after a full week of fun, we had to sadly say goodbye to Naples.
We loved on Daddo…

and slapped him five!

We attempted a picture with Susu…

unsuccessfully.

Then we loaded up and drove the 2.5 hours to Tampa to catch our direct flight.

I thought our flight was still on time until but after we got through security and to the gate, I found out we were delayed 2 hours like every single other flight out of that airport. Some bad weather had messed everything up. Thanks to the iPads and some snacks, we survived…

Maxwell even got to get a little magic coloring book that he thought was pretty neat. He also got to get a bag of mini Chips Ahoy cookies that he ate for dinner instead of the peanut butter crackers I was hoping he would eat!

Finally, 3 hours after we were supposed to be home, we made it back to Birmingham that night. Let me tell you, we were ALL beyond excited to see this guy!

We sure missed Robert! As good as it is to be home, I’m already planning for our next trip to do this….

And, finally, that is all of the spring break recap. Phew.

Hope you all have a GREAT weekend!
