Ear Infection

March 21, 2013

Well, not a fun first around here…Spencer has his first ear infection.  Poor guy.  He’s had tons of congestion the past week and yesterday morning he wouldn’t nap and I could just tell that something wasn’t right.  Up to the doctor we went and, sure enough, his left ear is infected.  So, we’re now armed with Amoxicillin and hope we can get him feeling better soon.  He also got weighed and is up to 17lbs, 10oz!  whoa!  big boy!

Even with an ear infection, he’s still a happy little guy…

The doctor did say that he’s probably too young to really have allergies so I guess the pollen wasn’t the culprit of the congestion after all.

Hoping that ear clears up quickly!

Would love to hear from you! 4 Comments

Doctor Update

February 21, 2013

I took Spencer for his 4 month check-up yesterday and he looks great!  BIG but great!  🙂  My little chubbo is 16 lbs, 11 oz (90th%)!  Whoa!  and 26.5 inches long (95th%).  That means he gained 3 lbs and grew 3.5 inches in only 2 months!  I knew his clothes weren’t fitting anymore!  His head circumference is 16.25 inches.  For comparison, here’s Maxwell’s 4 month check-up.  He was only 15 lbs but was 26 inches long.  Spencer’s got him beat!

Happy waiting to see Dr. Walley…

Heeey!  Dance it out!

Showing off his rolls…

Getting all checked out…

As I keep saying, he’s just fat and happy!  🙂

Thankful for good doctor reports!

Doc update

December 21, 2012

As I mentioned earlier, Spencer had his 2 month doctor appointment today.  So….what’s your best guess of this little chubbo’s weight?

Well, he’s 13 lbs, 8 oz (90-95th%)!!!  whoa!  Total chubbo and I love every single roll!!  For comparison, Maxwell was only 11 lbs, 5 oz at his 2 month checkup.  Goodness!

He’s 23 inches tall (75-85th %) and has a head circumference of 15 and 1/4 inches (50th-75th %).  He had to get several shots which is no fun but we made it.  Thankful for good doctor reports!

ps – Today Maxwell is wearing the reindeer sweatshirt he made at school…

I’d say his two handprints and one footprint make a cute reindeer!

Happy weekend!

Doc update

November 30, 2012

I took Spencer to see Dr. Walley for his 6 week checkup.  Robert and I had a bet on what he was going to weigh – Robert guessed 9.5 lbs, I said 10.  We were both wrong!  My little chubbo is 11 lbs, 4 oz (75th-95th%)!  chunk!  He’s also 22.5 inches long (85th-95th%) and has a head circumference of 15 inches (75th-95th%).  I looked back to compare with Maxwell and, at 5 weeks, Maxwell was 10 lbs, 1 oz and 22 and 1/4 inches long.  Spencer’s a week older and almost a pound heavier!  We’ll see how they compare as they grow.

Spencer did great at the doc again.  Happy and chubby…

I mean, could he be any cuter?!

Nope, he couldn’t.  and being that cute is exhausting!

Getting checked out by Dr. Walley…

Post-shot in thigh…not happy!

Overall, Dr. Walley said Spencer looks just great!  Hooray for good doctor reports!

Just a few other things to wrap up the week around here.

Maxwell has enjoyed being back home around all of his toys again…

GJ and Daddo stopped by on their way back to FL…

and Maxwell gave us all hats to wear as usual…

GJ and Daddo are good sports!

And last but not least, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here!

Ho ho ho!  I LOOOOVE Christmas time!  My decorations will be mainly the same as last year, but, with Susan’s help, I am doing something new to the outside.  Will share pics next week.

Have a great weekend!

What a weekend and doc update

November 5, 2012

Wow…the past few days have almost done me in.  Not because of my newborn either, but because of my sweet, big boy 2 year old.  Since Thursday we’ve dealt with teething, the croup, 2 doctor visits, a terrible cough, puking and tantrums.  Throw daylight savings in there and we are one tired household!

The adventure began on a good note with Spencer’s 2 week doctor visit on Thursday.  He’s still doing great and is up to 8 lbs, 5 oz (75th%)!  He’s a good eater for sure!  He grew 1/4 of an inch and is now 21.25 inches long (95th%).  He’s tall!  I believe it when I look at his long feet, toes and fingers!  His head circumference is 14 inches (75th%).  For comparison, here is the info from Maxwell’s 2 week appointment.  Dr. Walley did tell me that this 2 to 3 week mark is when a baby’s personality will shift if it’s going to.  So, if Spencer is still pretty laid back after this week, chances are he’ll stay that way.  Fingers crossed for a good week!!  Love this sweet baby…

Thursday night started out normal and Spencer actually slept GREAT that night even going for a 6 hour stretch.  Unfortunately, Maxwell woke up about 11:30 with the croup.  Barking, wheezing, scary!  Poor guy.  We were up with him all night and I was back at the doctor’s office Friday to get him checked out.  We got a 3 day dose of steroids and were on our way.

Nap on Friday obviously didn’t go well but we made it.  Maxwell did sleep pretty good Friday night though and had no more croup so we were hoping the worst was behind us.  Ha!

Saturday morning Maxwell had a bday party to go to.  He wasn’t contagious and seemed to be feeling much better so we decided to go enjoy the nice (and hot!) weather.  My little buddy walking into the playground where the party was…

After only 10 minutes playing on the playground, Maxwell wanted nothing more to do with it and only wanted me to hold him.  I stupidly told him that there was a cookie cake which cheered him up…but the next 30 minutes until the cookie cake came out were pretty miserable.  He would. not. stop. asking for a cookie.  Meanwhile, he didn’t want to color, he didn’t want to make a pirate hat with the other kids, he didn’t want to do anything except have me hold him.  When the cookie cake came out, he didn’t like the piece he got and melted down.  Full on tantrum.  We left immediately.  Good times.

After a nap spent mostly on me in the rocking chair, it was just a whiny, whiny afternoon around here and Maxwell had the worst dry cough ever.  Pitiful.

That night he did eat some dinner but puked all of that up 10 minutes later.  Man.  The good times continued.  I could tell he felt much better after that though and he slept all night.  He did wake up about an hour earlier than usual though – daylight savings and kids don’t mix!

Sunday actually went ok and he seems to be feeling close to back to normal.  Napping is still a challenge which is frustrating but there’s nothing I can do about it. Hopefully we’re over the croup, over the cough, and close to over the teething and on with feeling good!  We need an easier week around here!

I did snap a bunch of these on Sunday with my iphone and they make me smile.  Maxwell looooves to poke on sweet Spencer!  Luckily, Spencer seems pretty affable…so far!

These pictures crack me up – patting him on the head, poking him in the ear, sitting on him…lots of brotherly love!

On a final good note, Roll Tide Roll!!  What a game!!

ps – to my good friend, Lynds – so sorry to cancel our plans.  Rescheduling asap!!

Would love to hear from you! 4 Comments
