Let’s Get Physical

August 23, 2010

I’ve always been a pretty active person and I’ve tried to stay one throughout the pregnancy.  It’s gone pretty well and has definitely given me more energy!  The last trimester I’ve narrowed it down to 3 activities – walking, strength training and water aerobics.  Yes, water aerobics…you can make fun but it’s awesome!  You can’t imagine how nice it feels to get into a pool twice a week!

Here’s a pic of part of the water aerobics class.  It’s just for pregnant ladies and the conversations that go on in the pool are pretty funny…and usually revolve around food!  I wish the instructor, Helen, was in the photo.  She’s 65 years old, REALLY into line dancing, and hilarious!  It’s also much more of a workout than you’d think…although somehow we all manage to avoid getting our hair wet each week!

I also workout twice a week with a trainer, Toots (as in Tootsie, not as in boots!). Toots Rocks.  She’s from Liverpool, used to play tennis at UAB and is just the kind of personality you want to see at 7am in the morning!  I was working out with her for about a year before I got pregnant and she’s been totally game to help me keep pumping the weights right up to the end!  I swear sometimes these workouts are the only things that have kept me sane many weeks!

Toots and Me at 37.5 weeks

Toots also always has on all the coolest tennis shoes….love these!

I’ve tried to keep walking lots as well…but the never ending string of days with temps well over 100 degrees has been making that very hard the past month!  Can’t wait for cooler fall weather when I get to take BBB on a walk with me!

Would love to hear from you! 8 Comments

Daddy, Father, Pops

August 20, 2010

Poppa, Papá, Baba, Tata, Buwa, Otosan, Babbo, Daidí, Banketi, Papi, Vader.

Whatever you want to call him, he’s going to be a GREAT Dad!

I think Vader has a nice ring to it…if only we were Dutch.

I’m off to spend my weekend with this cute dad to be.  Just the two of us for a little bit longer!

Would love to hear from you! 4 Comments

Bump it

August 19, 2010

First, thanks for all your sweet comments on the nursery yesterday!  They mean a lot!

Friends constantly say “send me a picture of your bump!”  I used to do that too but I think I’m changing my tune.  So, speaking as a pregnant lady, I will no longer ask a pregnant lady that…or at least one over 6 months pregnant.  You just don’t always feel that cute anymore!  Think about it, do you want to send people a photo your stomach, especially when it’s at it’s biggest?  Didn’t think so.  🙂

However, I’d like to have a record of how BBB has grown…and I try to be a good sport most of the time so, for inquiring minds, here is my belly in all its stages…

Today! 38.5 Weeks

And, no, I’m not having twins…despite what the check out girl at the Piggly Wiggly thought on Sunday!  You can add “you having twins?” to the list of one more thing I will never ask a pregnant lady!    🙂

Hopefully the next picture will be me walking into the hospital!

ps – Happy Birthday to my sister-in-law Jen today!

Home Sweet Home for BBB!

August 18, 2010

Whenever BBB decides to finally make his arrival, he’s going to have a very cute nursery to come home to!  My mom and I had so much fun picking out all the fabrics and getting it all put together.  All the fabrics are Serena & Lily if you’re curious.  Everything is white, navy and apple green and I just love how crisp and clean it looks!

Here’s the view as you walk in the door.  The middle of the cornice board over the window actually has his monogram on it but we’re keeping that covered up for just a little bit longer!  🙂  It looks really good though – it’s a diamond shaped monogram in green.  I’ll post another picture once he’s home.

The glider chair and ottoman is awesome and super comfortable!

A little close-up of the fabric.  Love the swiss dots on both the white and navy fabric!  He has 2 other crib sheets too – one with a green geometric print and one with green stars.  I love stars.

The cute paintings done especially for BBB!  The artist even matched the backgrounds to the fabrics in the nursery!

Here’s his great bassinet that he’ll sleep in while in our room for the first few days…or weeks.  We’ll see!

He’s got plenty of nursery friends ready to meet him!!

Can’t wait to have a baby in this nursery!!

Shower me with happiness…and cute little onesies!

August 17, 2010

Thanks to some FABULOUS friends and family, I had the very best baby showers a girl could ask for.  The first was in Birmingham at the end of June and I got to see all of my favorite people in my own city!  I loved having family and out of town friends here and getting to show them where I spend my days.  A BIG thank you to all of those that made the trip – whether across a few states or just down the road.  You all made BBB feel very special and loved.  And with all the cute outfits I got, he is definitely going to one well dressed little guy (as if there was any question!)!!

The Birmingham shower was a fantastic brunch at my friend’s house.  Here are some pictures from the day…

The super cute decorations…

Yummy food…

And all the sweet gifts for BBB!

BBB's Moses Basket

Every good AL boy needs a 2 ft elephant!

Told you he's going to be well dressed! 🙂

The golf outfit that we all clearly loved!

But the best part of the day was definitely the wonderful friends who made it all so special!

I also had another shower a few weeks later down in Montgomery with all of my mother-in-law’s sweet friends.  Again, yummy food, cute little outfits and a great time!

With all the hostesses

With all the fun goodies!

Would love to hear from you! 3 Comments
