5 months!

March 20, 2013

Oh my, how is he already 5 months?!  Spencer is a happy, lovable, squeezable little guy and what did I ever do without him?  I am officially in love with this chubby little baby.  He loves to snuggle into my shoulder when I’m holding him and I could just eat him up.  He’s such an easy smiler and a GREAT belly laugher!  His little blue eyes just sparkle and he’s getting those long Brown eyelashes which makes him just irresistible to me!  🙂

For comparison, Maxwell at 5 months…

They look nothing alike in my opinion.  I always thought Maxwell looked just like Robert as a baby but I totally see Robert in Spencer too, especially his nose and eyes.  But I’m still holding out hope that Spencer has got some shades of red in that hair!  🙂

He’s becoming quite the good little sleeper now.  We’re not longer swaddling him and just putting him in a sleep sack.  He sleeps all night on his belly and, hooray!, actually does sleep all night.  He’ll rarely let me rock him asleep anymore.  He’s usually just too wiggly and awake to calm down in my arms so I’ll just put him in his bed awake and he’ll play for a bit and then go to sleep…sometimes with a little crying, sometimes with none.  He’s sleeping from about 8pm to around 7am (which occasional earlier wakeups!)  He naps in the morning in his crib from about 9 to 11:00 and then takes an afternoon nap in the swing from around 1 to 3:00.  Depending on when he wakes up from that nap, sometimes he’ll get a 3rd little nap in.

He’s eating 4 times a day and clearly loves his milk!  🙂  He’s smiley and giggly and just about perfect.

He’s not the best at sitting up on his own yet…I think that belly gets in the way!  🙂  He can balance for a minute but then…whoa!

off to one side!

or off to the other!

He loves being outside but I’m afraid outside doesn’t love him as much.  He’s had some major congestion in his nose since the spring weather hit and I’m thinking it’s all allergy related.

Look at his little feet crossed…too cute!

One thing Spencer definitely loves?  Maxwell.  If Maxwell is in the room, he’s got Spencer’s attention!  🙂

A few pics with Bear Bryant…

and then my favorite pics of the day!

Cute…

Cuter…

Cutest!

I love this little guy even more every single day.  What a lucky mama I am!

Happy 5 months Spencer!

Backward weekend roundup

March 18, 2013

We had a fun weekend with glorious weather on Saturday!  Loving these spring temps…even if they aren’t supposed to stick around this week.  Today I’ve got a little weekend recap but I’m going to start at the end because this happened on Sunday…

Oh yes.  Talk about exciting!  Robert and Maxwell went to Home Depot Sunday morning and when they walked out, this was parked right in front of the store!!

Maxwell was soooo excited!

Then the real live firemen (well, one fireman and one firelady!) came out…

and waved to Maxwell…

and then turned the lights on for him as they drove off!  Big stuff!  It pretty much made his whole life!  🙂  A good day indeed!

Going backward…  Saturday was fantastic weather and we spent it outside as much as possible!

Saturday night we hung out on the porch and Spencer enjoyed the fresh air…although I’m afraid all that fresh air is wreaking havoc on his little system.  I’m thinking he’s gonna have allergies.  boo.

allergies or not, he’s the happiest, cutest little thing!

earlier that day we played in the sand table (of course)…

and even got to see some bagpipers when we made a quick trip to Hop City.  It got us all into the St. Paddy’s day spirit!  Maxwell thought they were pretty cool but kept saying “they loud!”

Lunch was in Homewood at Urban Cookhouse where Maxwell ate that entire grilled cheese.  every last bite.  yay!  We then got him some new church shoes for the spring.  He did so good at the shoe store that he got to get a cookie from Savage’s afterward…or maybe it was that I bribed him to be good at the shoe store with the promise of a cookie from Savage’s afterward.  whatever works!

Saturday morning was breakfast with a fire truck…very appropriate given what would happen the next day!

And that was our fantastic weekend from end to beginning!  Can’t wait for the next one!

ps – Happy 5 months to Spencer today!!  Pics to come this week.

and just like that…

March 15, 2013

he sleeps through the night!  One night he didn’t, the next night he did…and has ever since!  Spencer has been sleeping from about 8pm to 7am for the past week.  yay!  I feel like I can finally say it out loud without jinxing it!   I think the turning point was when he finally mastered the ability to flop onto his belly.  He’s so much more comfortable sleeping on his stomach and just sleeps…well…like a baby!  🙂  He’s also mastered crib napping.  He’ll sleep for a good 2 hours in his crib every morning which is fantastic.  We’re still putting him in the swing in the living room for his afternoon nap mainly to keep him separated from Maxwell.  Their bedrooms are right next to each other and we don’t want them waking each other up.  Overall, he’s doing so great at sleeping.  Go Spencey!

I do think Spencer is going to end up with Robert’s seasonal allergies though.  Since it’s been pretty weather this past week and we’ve been hanging out outside more, Spencer has been waking up with a snot covered nose and lots of congestion.  Poor guy!  How young is too young to give a Claritin?!

I promised some pictures of Spencer today so here you go…my little blue eyed baby boy!

His hair looks really dark in these but, in person, it’s really light and still looking light he might have some shades of red!  🙂

He’s still just as smiley and as happy a baby as can be.  I love this squishy little boy!

Have a GREAT weekend!  We’ve got highs in the 70s for Saturday!  woo-hoo!

Lazy days in the yard

March 12, 2013

Just some more pictures from this past weekend.  Even though the grass still looks like winter, it was a beautiful spring day!  Perfect to hang out in the yard!

Love these next two pics…

Sweet brothers…

Maxwell wouldn’t stand still long enough for me to take his picture, but Spencer doesn’t have a choice yet!

cute…

cuter…

cutest!

I then did manage to snap a picture of Maxwell on the steps…and this is the face I got!

Silly boy!

Loving this weather!!
