Aunt and Uncle Messy

April 16, 2013

Last week we also had a visit from Robert’s sister, Mary Beth and her husband, Holland – affectionately known as Aunt Messy and Uncle Messy!  🙂

We treat our guests right around here and were sure to give them the most comfortable seats in the house!  🙂

The past week

April 15, 2013

While you were all checking out our lake pictures last week, life continued as normal here.  What happened last week?  Well, let’s see…

Spencer was sick.  Poor, poor baby.  He had just finished a round of antibiotics for an ear infection and we were back up at the doc not even 2 weeks later with another ear infection and some major, major chest congestion.  I think it’s all been made worse with some teething pain and has added up to one pitiful baby boy.  Dr. Walley decided to put him on a round of steroids to try and break up the chest congestion to see if that would allow the ear to drain on it’s own.  It worked but it’s been a long road.  Ready for my baby to be back to 100%

Pollen.  SO MUCH POLLEN.  It’s like it snowed green here.  I’ve never really had allergies before but I was no match for this pollen.  Sneezing, running nose, miserable.  But, the rain came on Thursday and washed most of it away.  Hooray!

I planted all of my herbs and tomatoes and can’t wait for them to start growing.

Maxwell got a a haircut and has done lots of playing outside in the yellow dirt, kicking the ball around and even some art projects!  It’s been a good week!

Here’s a few iphone pics from the past week…

Easter Day

April 12, 2013

We woke up at the lake bright and early Easter morning only to find out the Easter Bunny had been there!  Hot dog!  He left some fun goodies for both Maxwell and Spencer…

easter

I think Maxwell’s favorite gift was the egg full of M&Ms..for real.  After the M&Ms, his favorites were the new Cars plate (and his brother’s Thomas plate!)..

his monkey house shoes…

and the slinky.

He has loved his nerf football too!  Spencer loved his Elmo rattle…

easter

but Spencer’s favorite was the bendable bunny, hands down.  That bunny has been in his mouth pretty much every day since Easter!

Not only did the bunny leave some fun presents, he also hid eggs all over the deck for Maxwell to hunt!  By this point, Maxwell was a master egg hunter so had no problem finding all of the orange and yellow eggs…

and even one golden egg!

While all of the orange and yellow eggs had stickers in them, the golden egg had a Twix in it!  yum!

I think Robert was hoping to get his fishing line back in the water one more time that morning, but before we could even finish our pancakes the rain came!  Oh well! Overall it was a really fun weekend…even if we never did catch a fish!  🙂

The hunt!

April 11, 2013

On Saturday afternoon, we drove over to the Easter egg hunt outside of Montgomery that we go to every year (2012 and 2011).  It’s hosted by the parents of one of Robert’s friends from high school and it’s always a fun time and good chance for him to see some old friends.  Of course, you’ve got to dress up in some Easter duds to hunt the eggs!  Spencer wore the same bubble Maxwell wore last year and Maxwell rocked some seersucker pants.  Lookin’ sharp!

We got really lucky with the weather this year – the rain held off and the temps were perfectly pleasant!  We almost didn’t make it into the hunt though.  When we got there, we parked and quickly realized we were totally stuck in mud.  The Jeep was sunk down deep in muck and mire! (that’s for you, Robert!)  Luckily someone with a tow rope was right there and gave us a quick tow to get us out.  That would have been a mess if he hadn’t been there!  But, we made it in and were happy to be there!

When it was time to hunt for eggs, the boys were off!

Maxwell did pretty good finding lots of the candy that was hidden around the grounds…

and then he got to eat his findings.  His favorite? a Cadbury Cream Egg!  yum!  He loved it just like his momma does!  🙂

Spencer was a hit with all the ladies…they couldn’t stop squeezing on his cute little cheeks!

Maxwell had fun running around, eating cookies and swinging!

Spencer and I took our picture with the (scary!) Easter bunny.  I had just handed my camera to some man to take the picture – he had a great eye, huh?!  🙂

It was a fun day!

See you tomorrow for the last of the Easter posts!

The Lake day 2

April 9, 2013

I finished my last post saying “There’s always tomorrow!” for fishing and that’s exactly what Robert was thinking bright and early Saturday morning.  He and Maxwell had the fishing pole in the water before the pancakes were even made!

fishing

Maxwell was again interested for about 2 minutes and then wandered back up the house…

the lake

He wanted the pancakes!  🙂  It was this recipe, and they were good!

pancakes

Spencey didn’t get to have any pancakes but he was still as happy as could be, just like always!

After bellies were full, the boys gave fishing another go.  Robert was nothing if not persistent!

and Maxwell was still nothing but mildly interested!  So Robert kept trying to catch the big one…or any one…

and I played photoshoot with Maxwell – which basically consisted of me trying to get him to stay in one spot for more than 10 seconds so I could try to get the settings on my camera right and take his picture!

He definitely wasn’t into staying still but I still love some of the shots I got!

Before long, Maxwell was back at his new favorite activity…throwing pine cones into the lake!

He then entertained Spencer for a bit…

Spencer wasn’t exactly amused!

All the while, Robert kept fishing…and not catching anything.  Such is life!  But, hey, there’s always tomorrow, right?!  🙂
