Christmas concert

December 5, 2016

On Friday of last week, Spencer had his Christmas program and it was as cute as could be. I really had no idea how Spencer would do “on stage” but he did GREAT! I was so proud of my buddy! He was looking extra sharp for the program…

I might have had to bribe him with a marshmallow or two to wear the collared shirt but that’s beside the point. 🙂

Because that’s just what I do, I got there extra super early so I could get a front row seat. I was glad I did too because, the way they had it set up, there were very few front row seats at all. But, they did have the kids up on a higher stage than Maxwell’s year so you could see them all better. Spencer was excited to see us right up front!

He did exactly what he was supposed to do during the concert. He didn’t sing the loudest, and he definitely didn’t do all the hand motions, but he stood still, paid attention, and gave me an awesome double thumbs up after every song. Yes, I got a thumbs up – and even some finger guns! – after every single song. It was awesome. He looked like such a big boy standing up there and I was just so proud of him. It was a HUGE crowd of parents watching them and he just took it all in stride.

I just love this kid so much.

Thumbs up to a great Christmas concert!!

It’s beginning to look…

December 2, 2016

a lot like Christmas! Decorations are up!

I added garland to the upstairs rail this year and really like it!

And, of course, our mailbox is the pretties in the block thanks to Susan!

We picked out our tree last weekend and – note for next year – we should have gotten a bigger one! We went for about 8 feet and could have easily fit 9 feet or bigger. But, it’s still a pretty tree!

Santa Maxwell thinks it’s the best yet!

The rest of the house is all spruced up too!

More Mountains

December 1, 2016

We stayed up in Highlands through the weekend as there was plenty of fun to be had. On Friday we met up with our friends and explored town a bit…

and then, while I let the baby nap on me, Robert took the boys to a gingerbread house workshop where they decorated quite the masterpiece!

Saturday brought a healthy breakfast…

and then another hike to work off that healthy breakfast!

After carrying baby on my hip on the last hike, I knew we needed a better solution for her. I still had my infant carrier in the car so, despite the fact that it has a 25 lb weight limit and is made to carry your baby in the front, I strapped my 30 lb baby onto my back and made it work!

It was totally worth it to get this view at the top!

After everyone was good and tired, we had plenty of football to watch that afternoon! Roll Tide Roll! We were supposed to go into town that night to watch the tree lighting and see Santa, but the crew decided to just stay at home and eat some ice cream instead. We packed up Sunday morning and headed back to Birmingham to get ready for Christmas!

It was a fantastic Thanksgiving trip and we can’t thank Lulu and Granddaddy enough for their hospitality! Let’s do it again next year!

Thanksgiving

November 30, 2016

As I mentioned yesterday, we went up to Highlands, NC for Thanksgiving with Robert’s side of the family and had a great time. The kids got to hang out with some of their cousins, we all got to go on some hikes, and everyone ate plenty of good food!

Ready for the drive trip up on Wednesday!

We then had a great Thanksgiving with cousin time, turkey, and a post-meal hike to work off that pie!

Mountaintop

November 29, 2016

We went up to Highlands, NC for Thanksgiving and had a great time. We got back Sunday mid-day, unpacked and got our Christmas tree! All fun stuff but I’m still playing catch up. So, today you get a picture of us on a mountaintop…
